The Department of Defense Management at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) invites applications for a professor of the practice (intermittent) position in financial management. Candidates should possess a terminal degree, such as a masters or Ph.D., or its equivalent, in a relevant discipline, including (but not limited to) accounting, business administration, economics, finance, political science, public administration, or public policy. We are particularly interested in candidates with practical experience in financial management at the SES or Flag Officer level within the Department of Defense. The successful applicant must be able to teach core courses in financial management within the graduate program.

About Naval Postgraduate School

The Naval Postgraduate School provides defense-focused graduate education, including classified studies and interdisciplinary research, to advance the operational effectiveness, technological leadership and warfighting advantage of the Naval service. In support of the foregoing, the mission of the Department of Defense Management is to serve our Nation by educating U.S. and allied military officers as well as defense civilians in defense-focused business and public policy, by conducting research in defense management and public policy, and by providing intellectual resources for leaders and organizations concerned with defense business management practices and policies.

The Department of Defense Management at NPS has over 65 full-time faculty and approximately 15 part-time or intermittent faculty members. DDM normally has about 300 full-time graduate students, most of whom are military officers, and approximately 300 distant learning students (military officers and Department of Defense civilian employees).

To sustain academic excellence, NPS and the DON foster and encourage a program of relevant and meritorious research which both supports the needs of Navy and Department of Defense while building the intellectual capital of Naval Postgraduate School faculty.

Conditions of Employment:

Practical experience in financial management at the SES or Flag Officer level.

Must be able to complete and successfully pass a security background investigation.

Must be a US citizen

Masters or Ph.D. (or its equivalent) earned before October 1, 2024.

Minimum Qualifications: ? a graduate degree in a discipline that supports the departmental instructional needs; ? extensive experience (typica11y15 years or more) in the field of practice; ? demonstrated reputation in the community of practice for specialized domain expertise; and ? evidence of teaching aptitude.

Salary is negotiable. Primary consideration for setting pay will be based on the employee's qualifications and unique skills for the position being filled.
