Position Summary: The primary location of this position is the Cullowhee, NC campus. The Director/Executive Director leads academic and community engagement and development functions including: the community engaged mission of WCU; strategic planning and implementation; co-curricular program planning and marketing; measuring, monitoring, and tracking data associated with both curricular and co-curricular approaches; community/regional partnership cultivation, communication, and management; faculty development program planning, marketing, and facilitating; and relevant student engagement (service and employment) development and management. The Director/Executive Director engages the University community (faculty, administration, staff, and students) in community engagement, service, and scholarship. CCESL's organizational home is within Undergraduate Studies (an integral component of the university's focus on the holistic student experience) and the office of the Vice Provost of Academic Affairs. Undergraduate Studies seeks to improve individual lives and enhance economic and community development in the region, state, and nation through engaged learning opportunities. The Director/Executive Director reports to the Vice Provost of Academic Affairs. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required for this position: Minimum Qualifications: Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without the need for employment sponsorship.Masters degree required. Degree(s) from many academic disciplines will be considered. Degree(s) must be from an institutionally accredited university.A minimum of five years of administrative work experience in higher education, community engagement/service/development, faculty development, and/or non-profit participation or management. Preferred Qualifications: Doctoral degree in higher education, experiential education, or a related field.The ability to collaborate, lead, and inspire others; experience working with private and/or government entities; experience teaching at the college level.
