Testing Center Manager Primary Purpose: The Testing Center Manager is responsible for managing and delivering test proctoring services utilizing the Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) department's Accessible Information Management (AIM) software for students requiring disability related testing accommodations. Communicates with enrolled students, faculty, and staff to schedule and upload exams within legal guidelines and per various academic program requirements. Reviews student accommodations to determine and asssign appropriate testing space and ensures assistive technology, scribes, readers etc. are scheduled for exam times. Converts exams to accessible format for screen readers for students with visual disabilities. Troubleshoots questions and technical issues with students and faculty during exams, and ensures compliance with time limits and program requirements. The Testing Center Manager hires, trains and supervises SSD student employees providing accommodations to students with disabilities, including classroom aides and management of the Disability Cart service. As a member of the Division of Student Life, works to advance student development and retention; promotes diversity, inclusion, and respect; and empowers students to thrive. Essential Functions: Leads and manages the day-to-day operations of the testing center, including scheduling, coordination with academic programs, and logistics to maintain a secure and supportive testing environment. Utilizes the departments student portal (AIM) to optimize operations. Uses professional judgement to determine appropriate testing space needed per accommodation and schedules exam candidates accordingly. Schedules student employees to act as Scribes, Readers, and ensures assistive technology is in place as needed for exam candidates. Trains faculty to utilize the AIM software to upload their exams and testing contracts which detail their exam requirements. Troubleshoots questions, technical issues, or corrects data errors in real time with professors, program staff, and/or technology support to ensure exams are properly uploaded and available at the beginning of testing window. Monitors surveillance cameras and ensures enforcement of time limits and compliance with program exam requirements. Scans/returns completed exams promptly. Reports rule violations and unusual activities during exams by completing a Maxient Student Conduct incident report and obtaining video evidence from Public Safety. Notifies faculty of academic and behavioral issues and participates in Student Conduct hearings as a witness as needed. Develops and implements Testing Center procedures to ensure compliance with national best practices and exam security protocols. Supports the expansion of test proctoring services at the Sacramento and San Francisco campuses for graduate and undergraduate students by training staff and providing guidance on best practices. Responsible for maintaining testing rooms/center in a professional ready state, e.g., sanitizing between exams, maintaining or replacing needed technology/equipment, adaptive furniture, and supplies. Notifies and resolves issues with appropriate department (Pacific Technology, Facilities, etc.) as needed. Assists the Director in managing textbook alternative formatting requests, minor editing, and delivery of materials/books to students. Responsible for the recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, and supervision of student workers providing disability accommodations including Classroom Aides, Scribes, Readers, and SSD cart service. Collaborates with administrative support staff to post student jobs in Handshake and complete hiring paperwork. Manages the SSD Test Proctor email account. Answers questions, telephone calls, greets students/guests, provides information, transfers callers to appropriate staff, and is able to effectively prioritize workload. Maintains confidentiality and professionalism in working with students with complex needs in sometimes difficult and sensitive situations. Demonstrates a positive attitude and ability to work successfully with diverse populations with a commitment to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion. Performs other duties as assigned. This position serves as Campus Security Authority (CSA) as outlined by the Clery Act. CSAs have federally mandated responsibilities to report crimes that are reported them. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors Degree. One (1) year of experience delivering student services in an educational setting. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of and proficient in the use of computers including appointment and database management systems. Experience using Accessible Information Management (AIM) software. Knowledge and understanding of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and relevant Federal, State, and local laws including Section 504. Familiarity with applicable compliance laws such as FERPA and HIPAA. Strong organizational skills and the ability to function well autonomously. Effective communication skills, both written and oral, including an awareness of and ability to exhibit proper communication etiquette toward individuals with various types of disabilities. Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures. Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting. Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work. Work Environment/Work Week/Travel: Work is primarily performed in a standard office environment. Work performed during standard business hours with flexibility to manage testing schedules. May require occasional evenings and weekends for Department, University or Division events. Valid drivers license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the Universitys fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business.
