General Mechanical Engineer 3 - Military Veterans

Amentum is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join a team of engineering and design personnel to support projects in our Englewood, CO office. Although the position is based out of our Colorado office, Amentum is open to this position being filled remotely with the right candidate that has excellent communication and time management skills.

Perform a variety of engineering assignments in planning and overseeing research, development, design, manufacture, test, installation, operation, and maintenance of diverse electronic/mechanical equipment and systems and generally as a member of a design, analysis or review team on more complex assignments or as a lead on less complex assignments.

Key Responsibility

  • Perform a range of design development, analysis or review tasks under minimal supervision.

  • Act as a lead on less complex tasks and responsible for a portion of a design or section of an analysis or design review.

  • Generate complete design specifications of more complex projects.

  • Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements.

  • Establish and maintain a filing system or databases as needed for tracking project status.

  • Develop, maintain and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications.

  • Direct interface and liaison with customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications.

  • Conduct site visits, experimental investigations and analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations

  • Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures.

  • Support development of technical proposal and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work.Review vendor data


Required Experience
  • Bachelor of Sciences degree in Engineering required from an ABET Accredited Program.

  • Minimum of five (5) years design engineering experience.


  • Client projects for this position require US Citizenship.

  • Familiarity with Mathcad.

  • Demonstrated capability in the design of custom equipment and/or containment systems, development of design documentation including fabrication drawings, engineering analyses, strength of materials calculations, fabrication and procurement specifications and a basic knowledge in the selection of materials.

  • Working knowledge of MS Office products (Word, Excel).

  • Excellent written communication skills


Preferred Qualifications

Familiar with specifications and data sheets for large complex process facilities.

Experience with Pumps, Heat Exchangers, Vessels a plus

High temperature equipment design a plus

Compensation & Benefits

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $110K - $130K (Annually) (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
