About the role
The Software Development Engineer (SDE) I contributes in all areas of development as a member of an Agile Scrum team supporting Commercial Wholesale. Team members will have areas of strength and some level of specialization but must be adept at learning tools and languages that enable the team member to participate in all areas of product development. Being adaptable and knowledgeable in multiple domains enables the team members to swarm or fill gaps in order to meet commitments. The SDE, under limited supervision, provides advanced systems support for a portfolio of applications within GMF' Commercial Wholesale functional areas. This includes but is not limited to eliciting/documenting business functional/non-functional requirements, systems design, development or configuration, and development of automated testing activities.
This role will work with internal / external product teams to ensure products are designed and developed in an in iterative approach, quickly putting working software in the hands of our business teams while supporting and facilitating all aspects of the product development life cycle. The ideal candidate will be adept in influencing trade-off decisions for IT initiatives and demonstrate proficiencies in Agile and/or SAFe delivery frameworks to help transform our business with incremental product delivery.
What you need
Candidates should have a /be
- Bachelor's and/or advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management or related field
- Well-versed in Cloud technologies, DevSecOps, and applicable Software Development Lifecycles
- Minimum of +3 years' experience working in a Systems Development Engineer role
- Minimum of +2 years' experience in/with Agile software development teams
- Degree level educated or equivalent experience in IT; specifically, software design, development, and automated testing practices.
- Verbal and written proficiency in English and Portuguese or Spanish
Candidates must have
- Demonstrated experience in Java, .Net, DB query tools such as SQL Developer, TOAD or similar experience using testing tools such as ReadyAPI, Karate, Postman or similar
- Experience with application integration using APIM relevant Business/industry knowledge (Financial Services)
- Flexibility in working hours when needed to support off hour occasional testing/deployments
- Strong attention to detail, with an expectation to deliver required outcomes according to pre-defined costs, quality, and timelines
- Excellent working relationship skills and strong customer focus be skilled in time management, planning, prioritizing, and executing tasks
- Be flexible to working off-hours and international travel to support a global business
- The ability to operate with the utmost integrity and consistently display a positive attitude to work and the various challenges encountered in project delivery.
What you will be doing
- Contribute to the development of clear and unambiguous requirements supporting change delivery within projects / Release Programs
- Plan, organize and direct the implementation and/or development of supported applications in accordance with strategic business plans and industry standards on multiple small-to-large projects.
- Plan, organize and develop products that meet current NorthStar Architectural design/development objectives.
- Assist with the creation and execution of automated test scripts that align to GMF's product development life cycle.
- Responsible for analyzing and resolving functional and technical problems across various product-aligned teams.
- Evaluate / assess vendor produced requirements and solution documentation, ensuring information is presented in a clear and concise manner.
- Undertake "As-Is" and "To-Be" process mapping and business modelling, ensuring a "customer-first" mindset when designing and development products that support business operations.
- In alignment with business SMEs, work closely to define future state of business processes and product roadmaps.
- Lead problem resolution initiatives; organizing and developing recommendations for business process improvements.
- Design, develop and test solutions that deliver functionality defined within GM Financial' requirements elicitation process. This includes but is not limited to the development of application API's, interfaces to/from source/target applications, configuration parameters and test-driven development.
- Effectively manage and build relationships with external partners/suppliers' and development teams.
- Take a proactive and hands-on approach to project work and adapt in terms of style and activities undertaken.
