Affirmative Action No.:: 24P293 First Consideration Date:: 08/12/2024 Department:: School of Medicine Admin Position FTE:: 100% Minimum Annual or Hourly Rate: $45,000 Job Purposes:: The Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine is seeking a Simulated Patient Coordinator. Simulated patients (SP) are trained to simulate patients' history and physical examination findings for teaching and assessment of healthcare professions students. The SP Coordinator is primarily responsible for coordinating and managing SP training, including event scheduling, recruitment, and ongoing education, to ensure effective simulation for medical student education. Additionally, the role involves administrative duties such as overseeing SP protocols, performance evaluation, and payroll. Required Qualifications:: Bachelor's degree and 3 year of related experience, OR Associate's degree and 5 years related experience. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to handle confidential and/or sensitive information. Excellent organizational skills and ability to plan, coordinate, and prioritize work. Ability to work independently and apply sound judgment. Ability to maintain workflow with changing priorities, frequent interruptions, and stressful situations while working with a positive attitude. Commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse community. Knowledge of a variety of computer applications including Microsoft Office and ability to learn new applications. Preferred Qualifications:: Familiarization with Medical School Simulated Patient Programs Work requires considerable judgment, initiative, creativity, and/or ingenuity in areas where there is little precedent. Essential Functions and percent of time:: 65% Simulated Patient (SP) Training Coordinates and manages all aspects of SP Training including collaborating to schedule SP events, recruitment of SPs for each event, and training each SP for events. Reviews cases for each event and determine the specific requirements for each case/event in collaboration with Patient Simulation Program Manager. Organizes and develops SP trainings and retraining as needed. Selects SP for each session to ensure appropriate staffing. Trains and educates SPs on assigned events and systems and prepares SPs for working with medical students. Instructs SPs on giving feedback and professional behavior in the medical setting in collaboration with Manager. Supports SP Case Development by providing input in documents and facilitating SP involvement. Provides input for maintenance and updates of SP training manual. Serves as lead on assigned events by coordinating with faculty, recruiting and training SPs, and scheduling event and administrative follow through. 25% Administration Works with leadership to develop and oversee SP protocols, applications and tools used for training and performance. Supports leadership in maintaining ongoing quality control and reviewing performance of all SP in events. Coordinates recruitment and screening of SPs and SP orientations. Responsible for monitoring performance and evaluating all SPs and TAs and delivering SP performance feedback. Completes and approves all payroll reports for SP and TA; includes verification of hours, and documents, and certification of event budget. Calculates and prepares event reports. Maintains accurate employment tracking records for payroll reports. Maintains SP demographic information. Working Conditions:: This position requires some weekend and evening hours. Must be able to physically help with room and equipment set up/break down which includes performing activities such as walking, bending and lifting or moving equipment. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
