Summary



Performs project management on a broad range of highly complex Industrial Engineering activities involving all aspects of plant productivity to monitor, control, and improve plant operating efficiencies, applying advanced mathematical, physical science, and engineering technologies. Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments. Recognized authority within area of expertise with wide versatility of experience and capability.

Duties and Responsibilities



  • Analyzes departmental and inter-departmental product to identify and eliminate non-value added activities.
  • Coordinates the development of layouts and major rearrangements for manufacturing and inspection departments to optimize the utilization of resources and facilities considering workloads, processes, product flow, and relationships with other operating groups.
  • Develops standard time values for manufacturing and inspection operations and pre-determined time systems.
  • Prepares evaluation reports, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for and leads improvements for product, test equipment, procedures and manufacturing or operating processes that improve productivity and reduce flow time.
  • Estimates set-up times, operating times, and flow times, as well as production needs.
  • Compiles cost estimates, monitors performance, and prepares reports, statistics, and recommendations for management review.
  • Prepares specifications and coordinates the procurement of various equipment and facilities, including preparation of budget input specifications and justifications.
  • Uses advanced statistical and scientific methods to evaluate, address, and recommend improvements to engineering and production problems that affect productivity.
  • Establishes methods and procedures and determines base data requirements for conducting workload impact and cost analyses as required to identify the effect of design and schedule changes on direct labor and production equipment requirements. Develops manpower and machine load forecasts in support of plant budgets and workload impact studies.
  • Plans, conducts, and coordinates special studies as directed by General Management.
  • Provides project leadership and technical guidance on moderate to complex projects.
  • Conducts technical reviews of line and staff organizations to assist general management in the evaluation and development of planning to optimize staffing levels, organizational structuring, and functional alignments.
  • Prepares conceptual design studies, feasibility studies, and design criteria; and develops material handling systems for storerooms, warehouses, tool cribs, packaging, shipping, and receiving.
  • Monitors construction of facilities to assure conformance with design intent.
  • Leads the development and implementation of major projects including work measurement, forecasting and utilization systems, make-buy evaluation studies, material control systems, and supplier capability studies.
  • May perform other duties as required.
  • Conducts activities in a safe and healthy manner and works in accordance with established HS&E requirements to ensure the protection of employees, the public, and the environment. Takes actions necessary to "stop" work when an unsafe condition or action is identified. Every employee has the right and responsibility to stop work when unsafe conditions or actions are identified.

You Must Have



  • Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program or bachelors of science degree in Physics from and accredited program.
  • Six or more years of relevant experience in engineering, analytical, or related technical activities.
