DESCRIPTION
The GIS Analyst will join the National Geospatial Practice team in our Infrastructure vertical. He/she/they will be involved primarily in an array of broadband focused projects for state and local governments. Responsibilities include data editing and analysis, cartographic mapping, AGOL/Enterprise application creation and maintenance including Field Maps, data and product quality control, technical solution development, troubleshooting, and a willingness to increase skillsets with training, research, and working with teammates on potentially complex projects.

•Have a strong knowledge of GIS concepts and spatial relationships
•Apply broadband and demographic data knowledge/experience on project tasks
•Reconcile results of geospatial analysis and prepare documentation and reports
•Data editing and quality assurance
•Ability to provide deliverables in a timely manner
•Ability to effectively communicate regarding data needs, priorities, and on support matters
•Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time
•Must be able to communicate effectively
•Ability to successfully work directly with the client and associated external vendors/consultants
•Perform task management and guidance
•Work closely with multi-disciplinary teams within Michael Baker International

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in GIS, Geography, Science, or related field of study is preferred; minimum Associate Degree is required.
  • 5-7 years of experience working directly with GIS data, preferably in a consulting environment.
  • 5 years of experience with the Esri ArcGIS suite (ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro).
  • 1-2 years of experience with Python and Modelbuilder.
  • Must be able to demonstrate GIS mapping and analysis skills including, but not limited to cartographic techniques, geoprocessing tool box familiarity (3D Analyst Tools, Spatial Analyst Tools, Data Management Tools, etc.).
  • Experience with developing and maintaining Esri Field Maps applications.
  • The ability to understand client operations and work directly with the client to support their needs.
  • Experience or familiarity with relational databases (SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL).
  • Experience creating, editing, and analyzing geospatial data in shapefile and geodatabase formats.
  • Experience conducting QC on data to identify conformity to standards and documenting discrepancies.
  • Experience with developing and maintaining ArcGIS Online/Enterprise dashboards/applications.
  • Experience in map creation; work entails using established templates, developing new templates and ad hoc requested maps.
  • Experience in trouble-shooting data issues and tool failures.
  • Experience in solution development, including best-practice workflow processes.
  • Experience in creating and updating instructional and technical documentation and training others.
  • Experience with creating Survey123 applications is desired.
  • Experience with the Federal Communication Commission National Broadband Map and associated data and other broadband-related source data is desired.
  • Experience with demographics data related to broadband is desired.
  • Experience with QGIS is a plus.
  • Must have the ability to work both independently, with limited supervision, and as part of a geographically dispersed team, during normal business hours.
  • Ability to travel if a project warrants it.
COMPENSATION

The range for this role is $65,000-$90,000. This will be dependent on the skills of the incoming candidate and geographic location.

WORKPLACE FLEXIBILITY

Candidate may work from home (with a fast internet service paid for by the employee), a hybrid schedule if a commutable distance to one of our offices, or they can decide to work onsite from a nearby company office location.
