Job Summary and Qualifications

The Director of Clinical Informatics (DCI) is responsible for facilitation and leadership of facility Clinical Informatics by leading the implementation of and providing ongoing support for corporate/division/facility projects related to the electronic health record (EHR) including:


  • standardization

  • utilization

  • integration

  • optimization

The DCI is responsible for development, coordination, support, completion of workflow mapping, project advancements, resources and implementation focused on Clinical Informatics initiatives. This includes (but not limited to) computerized provider order entry (CPOE) and documentation, EBCD, Meaningful Use and other technology that supports clinician workflow, Clinical Excellence scorecard and publicly reported data such as Leapfrog. 


  • The DCI will participate in the community of Clinical Informatics by working with facility leadership to ensure clinical applications are well supported throughout the facility.

  • Provides input, updates and communication on clinical quality informatics initiatives at medical staff, leadership, and other hospital committees

  • Identify gaps and opportunities in departmental process mapping of current state and the future state workflows.

  • Provide system and operations expertise for implementation of process & system changes.

  • Provide Go-Live support (elbow support) for clinical quality informatics initiatives

  • Participate in systems training for project team and serve as Super User for Clinicians

  • Provides specialized support for physicians

  • Design and develop education/training materials in CPOE, EBCD, etc. to support staff training and continued education in collaboration with Nursing Education as needed. (crosses over to nursing education)

  • Actively supports and promotes systems standardization, utilization, and best practices in the area of clinical quality informatics

  • Adheres to HCA Code of Conduct and Mission, Vision & Value Statement

  • Participates in special projects as needed and performs other duties as assigned.

What qualifications you will need:

Education:


  • Bachelor’s degree required, clinical degree preferred with strong healthcare facility.

  • Experience. Master Degree preferred ideally with focus on Health Informatics.

Licensure/Certifications:


  • Current (per State) RN license for RN applicants.

  • Nurse or Health Informatics Certification encouraged.

Experience:


  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of clinical experience in an acute care hospital setting.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Clinical/Healthcare Informatics, clinical applications support, or equivalent preferred.

  • Meditech experience strongly preferred.

  • Must have previous experience facilitating large projects which includes implementation of health technology.
