SUMMARY:

Mortenson's Minneapolis Operating Group is looking to add a Senior MEP Project Manager to the team. This individual will support MEPT scope management and training for multiple projects in the operating group. This individual will provide overall direction and leadership on a Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Technology (MEPT) dominant project or for MEPT scopes of work on medium to large projects to include the management of project quality, timeliness, safety, as well as mentoring the project team. May oversee MEPT scopes of work on multiple projects. Develop and enhance customer relationships by providing excellent service.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Track upcoming and current projects and assess project risks/need for MEPT support; coordinate with MEP Design Phase manager

Meet with project managers to create plans for MEPT support with onsite scope manager and conduct training of team members to better understand MEPT systems

Must be able to lead and manage workload autonomously, with strong customer service and time management skills

Interface with Safety, Quality, VDC, Scheduling, and Estimating teams to put together standards of work related to MEPT

Manage the overall financial health of projects

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of project financial projections and equipment projections
  • Consult with project leaders to determine and allocate project estimate into financial system
  • Determine cost codes, approve invoices, and make necessary budget management decisions
  • In conjunction with project leadership, provide financials and billings to Accounting for timely payment
  • Create/assist with monthly owner billings
  • Manage, or assist in the development of, change orders through determining when to submit to the owner or on-site representative and obtaining the customer and/or architect's approval

Support project team in management subcontracts and suppliers for the project
  • Oversee budget for and make selections of subcontractors and suppliers
  • Handle billings and contract management, including contract buyouts
  • Oversee the 3-D coordination process to resolve all conflicts prior to installation
  • Direct and manage the commissioning process on the project inclusive of the start up plan, COT, commissioning schedule, and functional testing
  • Lead all activities required in the project closeout inclusive of operations and maintenance manuals, model turn over, and training
  • Manage change orders through determining when to submit to the owner or on-site representative and obtaining the customer and/or architect's approval
  • Provide high level management of quality, risk, safety, and compliance for the project and employees
  • Use the appropriate level of forethought and planning in decision making to assure project success

Manage Assistant Project Manager(s) and Project Engineer(s)
  • Provide job assignments and manage career development
  • Approve timecards for on-site team members
  • Provide training
  • Review work performance; determine rewards and/or performance management measures

Serve as a point of contact with the owner and on-site representative specific to MEPT scope management
  • Assist with the review of the owner agreement
  • Resolve site concerns for the owner or representative
  • Provide frequent interactions and service to build positive relationships and future work opportunities

Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels

Lead team members by example, offer effective coaching and feedback, and effectively manage performance

All other duties as assigned including:
  • Maintain schedule and budget until project completion; varies from direct ownership to consultation
  • Provide high level management of quality, risk, safety, and compliance for the project and employees
  • Use the appropriate level of forethought and planning in decision making to assure project success, providing advisement/ownership of MEPT scope activities
  • Responsible for dispute resolution
  • Travel as needed to support projects in greater Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Iowa; other locations may arise based on project/customer needs

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural, Mechanical, and/or Electrical Engineering or
  • equivalent field experience
  • Minimum eight years construction management experience, preferably with a Mechanical or Electrical Contractor
  • Current driver's license
