This position will support the Senior Coordinator and Coordinator for Associated Students Program Board with the operations and event management of ASPB to ensure that the programs and events are in accordance with established operating policies and procedures, and properly coordinated to ensure maximum service to the University community. This is a contract position and hours are limited to 1000-hour max (up to 40 hours a week). End date may vary based on the 1000 hour limit. The salary range for the Associated Students Program Board Assistant Advisor position is $21.89 - $36.35 per hour. However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $21.89 per hour. We base placement within these ranges on the individual's qualifications as they relate to this position. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff. As a university employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements. Requirements: Educational Requirements Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required Experience Requirements 0 - 1 years of related experience. Required Minimum of 2 years planning college events Preferred Minimum of 1 year working with agencies and artist management teams Preferred Minimum Requirements Basic knowledge of advising and counseling techniques. Interpersonal skills. Skills in service orientation, active listening, critical thinking, and facilitation. Knowledge and understanding of the needs of a diverse student population. Verbal communication, written communication and organization skills. Preferred Qualifications Basic knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs. Custom Scope Under close supervision of higher level student life professionals, uses student life professional concepts and practices to assist with organizing a variety of student services and co-curricular programs, such as student clubs, businesses and organizations residence hall activities, new and transfer student orientation and transitional programs, and conducting workshops. Provides basic support and advising to students. Department Custom Scope The Associated Students Program Board (ASPB) is part of the Student Life Office. The Associated Students Program Board Assistant Advisor has the shared responsibility for the operations and student personnel management of ASPB to ensure that the programs and events are in accordance with established operating policies and procedures, and properly coordinated to ensure maximum service to the University community. In conjunction with the Senior Coordinator and Coordinator serve as an advisor for the student leaders in ASPB and provides leadership, guidance, training, and support to the following programming divisions within ASPB and other ASPB initiatives. The ASPB Assistant Advisor assists the board and volunteer team in providing a robust campus entertainment experience for the undergraduate students at UCR while supporting their success throughout the year. This is a contract position, scheduled to end after the completion of no more than 1000 hours; contract may be extended based on need. Key Responsibilities: Develops relationships with students and provides support. (1) Assist with the recruitment, hiring, and training of up to 60 ASPB student staff members, including the ASPB Board and Volunteer Program (2) Supervise and mentor student directors in two divisions (3) Develop and provide training to ASPB Board Members and volunteers regarding large scale events protocol, general ASPB orientation, diversity training, leadership development, etc. Including attending and assisting with the ASPB retreat. 30% Assists higher level specialists with counseling and advising activities. Provide substantial coordination, logistical and execution support to ASPB Advisor/Campus Activities Coordinator with campus large-scale events, including but not limited to Block Party, Homecoming, and Spring Splash. 20% Learns to maintain relationships with internal and external organization stakeholders important to program success. Follows guidelines and procedures in conjunction with external vendors (such as rental companies, private security, etc.) related campus partners that may include Risk Management, UCPD, Environmental Health & Safety, Transportation and Parking Services (TAPS), the Highlander Union Building (HUB) Scheduling Office, Physical Plant (including Grounds and Electric) and other areas of the student affairs division. 20% Provides basic transactional advising and guidance to student leaders participating in student government, co-curricular programs and/or organizations on non-sensitive issues. 20% Refers students in crisis to more advanced student life and development professionals, or other student service departments using established protocols and guidelines.
