Position Summary: This position leads the overall capital project portfolio management for Arcadium Lithium at the Bessemer City, NC plant.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Ensure Arcadium Lithium business capital projects at the Bessemer City, NC plant are executed consistent with best practices

  • Ensure capital construction activities are monitored to ensure all safety procedures are followed

  • Ensure all construction organizations have implemented internal processes such as daily toolbox talks and provide internal auditing to ensure safe construction activities.

  • Ensure all permits such as building, environmental etc. are submitted and approval prior to commencing construction activities

  • Ensure all contractors entering have completed necessary safety training

  • Owner of the capital development process at the Bessemer City plant with responsibility for assessment and continuous improvement

  • Accountable for an effective communication, analysis, forecast, control, and management review of capital spending for the Bessemer City plant’s portfolio of projects

  • Management of the specific capital projects at Bessemer City to achieve safe, on-time, and on-budget control of projects

  • Development of capital project managers at Bessemer City

  • Effective management of contract project managers and detailed process engineering at Bessemer City

  • Maintains engineering standards at site in support of capital project management consistent with Arcadium Lithium and public engineering standards

  • Work close with executives and N-2/3/4 leaders, being part of strategic discussions and decision-makingto include compensation, annual budgets/headcount

  • Help execute business strategy

  • Provide ideas and challenge management

  • Management consultant on Human Capital issues

  • Coach leaders

  • Work with Human Resources to align solutions with business needs.



Education and Experience:

  • BS Engineering or related field (Required)
  • 8-10 years in chemical, industrial, manufacturing industry

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • In depth knowledge of Safety and Safety mindset

  • Previous experience in complex large capital project management

  • Contractor management

  • Commissioning and start-up experience

  • Process design techniques

  • Experience with implementation of distributed control systems for large projects

  • Previous experience in Managing People

  • Strong Written and Verbal Communication Skills

  • Ability to interact effectively with multiple functional groups

The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
