Facility Maintenance Technician - Building Trades | The University of North Carolina at Greensboro - Military Veterans

Under general supervision, to perform skilled journey level work in all assigned responsibilities related to construction, renovation, maintenance, and repair of Housing and Residence Life facilities which may include upkeep, renovation, and general maintenance of plumbing, heating, air conditioning, electrical and other systems, carpentry including building walls, hanging doors and trim work, flooring, acoustical ceiling grids, cabinetry, drywall hanging and finishing, paint and light furniture repairs. Required to read and understand floor plans and construction documents necessary to construct or erect small to moderately complex projects with minimal assistance from project managers and/or supervisor. Minimum Qualifications
HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENCY ; OR DEMONSTRATED POSSESSION OF THE COMPETENCIES NECESSARY TO PERFORM THE WORK . OPTIONAL GUIDELINES : EXPERIENCE IN THE TRADE AREAS RELATED TO THE AREA OF ASSIGNMENT MAY BE SUBSTITUTED ON A YEAR - FOR - YEAR BASIS .
Preferred Qualifications
Five years of experience in one or more of the building trades or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
