Summary
This is an UNPAID internship through the DoD SkillBridge Program for transitioning active-duty US military personnel. DoD SkillBridge Internships are available to help transitioning active-duty military personnel gain real-world experience in the work force sometime during their final 180 days of active-duty service. The intern will actively train on meaningful projects and work closely with a mentor and with senior company leadership. HII Mission Technologies (HII-MT) Internship programs are focused on placing transitioning military into internships that require KSAs, Education & Military Training similar to their current or previous military jobs; positions that could easily transition over to a full-time regular and permanent job with HII-MT.
Objective
The SkillBridge intern will train as an Engineering Planning Analyst within HII-Mission Technologies, reporting to a designated HII Supervisor, with the goal of learning the maintenance actions and duties required of our CAST members in providing availability planning and execution support to the Project Team and Ship's Force personnel. The intern will be assigned special projects as needed.
Desired End State (3 month target)
- At the end of three months, the intern will be able to further develop skills needed to provide availability support for Ship's Force and the FDNF Puget Sound Naval Shipyard project team. Use personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports.
- The intern will develop a good understanding of:
- COMNAVAIRFOR IST 4700.2, Ship's Force Resource Manual (SFRM).
- Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFFM).
- integrated Project Teams for Aircraft Carrier Maintenance (IPT4ACM)
- Mission Technologies will benefit from the military background of the SkillBridge intern's naval propulsion engineering knowledge and experience specific to Naval Vessels and considers the SkillBridge internship an overall positive experience.

TRAINING LOCATION: US Naval Base, Bremerton, WA
Training Plan
Contract Introduction
- Week 1: In processing, Introductions/office familiarization.
- Week 2: Introduction to the various FDNF Project Team entities and Mission Technologies team as well as the applicable safety measures required for HII personnel.
CVN DPIA Maintenance
- Week 3: Intro to basic departmental operations, maintenance and documentation for reporting. Issuance of CAST personal qualification Standard.
- Week 4: Intro the Advanced Industrial Management System (AIM).
- Week 5: Introduction to Schedule Development and Work Integration.
- Week 6: Introduction to General knowledge Topics such as: Kitting, Shipyard Organization and location of key services, Advance Planning Team, CWCT, JPL, WIM and ZM relationships.
- Week 7: Introduction into the metrics/reports used by CAST for tacking Ship's Force work.
- Week 8: Commence attendance to all routine Planning/work status meetings.
- Week 9: Commence review of all Ship's Force Strategies for availability planning/execution highlighting possible revisions needed to support the upcoming change in hulls.
- Week 10: Roles and responsibilities of CAST.
- Week 11: Demonstrate an understanding of the "Must Do" items in the SFRM and the IPT4ACM as they relate to CAST
- Week 12: Engage with HII PM and team for performance and evaluation feedback.
Minimum Qualifications
Active-Duty Military ONLY within final 180 days of active-duty service. Education and Experience dependent on Program of Instruction. Applications accepted if you are within 12 months of separation.
- Secret US DoD Security Clearance - current and active
- Full US Navy qualifications in operations and maintenance of Naval Nuclear Propulsion Plants on board a CVN (aircraft carrier (nuclear propulsion)).
Preferred Requirements
Transitioning active-duty US Military Service Members currently assigned to a military installation/base at or near Bremerton, WA with the intent to remain in country for post-military service employment with a US DOD contracting or US Government organization.
Transitioning US Navy Service Members with a Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience in CVN Maintenance operations & planning, or 8-9 of experience with a HS Diploma.
