Summit is the busiest level 3 trauma hospital in Tennessee. In this position, you will work in a 50-bed Emergency Room that primarily cares for higher-acuity patients. This includes 8 trauma bays. We have 10 low-acuity spaces for our fast-track area.
This position will provide a great pathway for nurses who are interested in growing into other nursing positions like, Trauma, Float Pool, Inpatient Rehab, PCU, ICU, or even educator roles or leadership positions.

Job Summary and Qualifications
Emergency Room Nurse
Registered nurses provide and coordinate care for patients. The Registered nurse is responsible for collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members to provide physical and psychological support to patients and their families. Daily responsibilities of the Registered nurse include but are not limited to assessments and reassessments, developing individualized plans of care, medication administration, documentation, education, proper maintenance of equipment, and communication of patient needs.
What you will do in this role:
- You will monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions while maintaining accurate and detailed records
- You will order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess the patient's condition.
- You will demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served.
- You will promote hospital customer service initiatives.
- You will utilize the nursing process for individual care to meet the needs of patients.
- You will demonstrate the ability to perform technical skills and procedures.
What qualifications you will need:
- RN licensure by the Tennessee Board of Nursing or a Board of Nursing from a compact state.
- Associate's degree; Bachelor’s degree is preferred
- Current BLS from the American Heart Association
- ACLS and PALS within 1 year of employment
- CPI within 6 months of employment
- A minimum 2 years as a registered nurse
- 1-year minimum of emergency room nurse experience
TriStar Summit is a 234 bed comprehensive facility. We serve Davidson, Wilson and surrounding counties. We include a Level III Trauma Center. We offer a full array of acute care services. These include cardiology, oncology, orthopedics/spine, rehabilitation and women’s services. We are an Accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI. We are a Primary Stroke Center.
