The College is committed to the educational benefits of diversity. Qualifications: FPSY 672 Foundations of Trauma Treatment (3 Units) Saturday 10:00 - 5:00 PM. This course provides students with a comprehensive and integrated approach to the field of trauma studies, with an emphasis on the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of the trauma spectrum. The personal and social effects of trauma, including the biopsychosocial, spiritual, familial, and cultural will be addressed. We will explore the effects of trauma at multiple levels of human interaction, as well as how factors such as race, class, gender, and individual, familial and community resources affect the experience of trauma as well as the treatment of traumatic experience. Students will gain an understanding of the assessment and intervention skills needed for working with individuals experiencing acute stress responses, single incident trauma, and developmental trauma, as well as knowledge about working with special populations including women, veterans and children. Qualifications Clinical, law enforcement or community corrections professional work experience. Knowledge of forensic criminal court proceedings and court ordered assessments, experience with diverse populations in corrections, institutions or out of custody mandated treatment. LMFT, LFCC, Ph.D., Ed.D, Psy.D. Ability to provide a clinical, comprehensive and integrated approach to the field of trauma studies, while informing about the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of the trauma spectrum. Professional expertise and knowledge of the personal and social effects of trauma, including the biopsychosocial, spiritual, familial, and cultural will be addressed.
