Scheduled Hours 37.5 Position Summary Washington University seeks an advancement professional for the position of Strategy Officer. University Advancement strives to advance the mission of the school by creating a culture of philanthropy among alumni, students, faculty, and friends. The Strategy Officer will partner and collaborate as a liaison between Arts & Sciences leadership and generalist gift officers to develop and implement donor strategy and proposals that correspond with the appropriate gift lane.The Strategy Officer will report to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Advancement for Arts & Sciences. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in planning, implementing, and managing fundraising programs to support our organization's mission. This position requires a strong understanding of fundraising principles, excellent communication and relationship-building skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and external stakeholders. Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities Develops detailed knowledge of key priorities for Arts & Sciences and the aligned university priorities. Maintains list of top prospects for Arts & Sciences. Develops goals annually and broadly for Arts & Sciences. Manages campaign initiatives and gift tables. Prepares and staffs leadership for donor meetings and events locally and out of town as needed. Serves as a member of assigned school and program committees. Oversees engagement strategy for assigned boards and committees. Ensures gift officers have effective school and program-based strategies for Arts & Sciences. Supports unit-based training for gift officers. Serves as subject matter expert for gift opportunities in Arts & Sciences. Supports relationships across University Advancement for Arts & Sciences. Drives accountability with gift officers for agreed-upon deliverables and successful proposal closure. Navigates and manages the development of gift agreements and donor expectations in collaboration with gift officers. Works with team to implement annual operational plans including events calendar, communication calendar, and OKRs (objectives and key results). Supports the development of budgets for unit activity. Performs other duties as assigned. Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree. One year of working experience as a business development manager, sales executive, or a relevant role. Project leadership skills, with value placed on organizational loyalty, commitment, pride, integrity, mutual respect, and collegial openness. Operates with a high level of integrity, confidentiality, and discretion. Ability to think strategically and analytically, and then implement effectively. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with excellent active listening skills. Ability to work with collaboratively with diverse constituencies within a complex organization. Creative problem solving and project management skills. Required Qualifications Bachelors degree. Two years of related experience. Grade G13 Salary Range $65,900.00 - $112,700.00 / Annually The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
