Position Summary The Senior Data Analyst--Annual Giving reports to the Director of Data Analytics, Systems and Reporting (DASR), and partners closely with the Director of Annual Giving, serving as a dedicated resource to the Annual Giving team on all strategic and technical aspects of data segmentation. As an embedded member of the department responsible for multi-channel solicitations, the Senior Data Analyst collaborates with their annual giving colleagues to define target audiences for fundraising appeals. S/he analyzes donor data to identify meaningful segments based on demographics, behavior, and giving history, and determines optimal segmentation criteria to maximize campaign effectiveness. The Senior Data Analyst uses a wide range of tools, including PL/SQL Developer, to pull, clean, and transform the relevant data and prepare it for use in appeals. In collaboration with the Director of Annual Giving, the Senior Data Analyst designs and develops reports, projections, and tools to measure performance towards goals and provide actionable insights. At the same time, working with Director of DASR and the DASR team, this position is heavily involved in overall University Advancement systems design, management, upgrades, and conversions. Position Specific Accountabilities/Responsibilities 1. Take lead in defining segments for all Annual Giving fundraising campaigns by analyzing prior audience performance, identifying trends and outcomes, and targeting opportunities to increase donor counts. Create segmentation strategies for the annual Day of Giving and the Giving Tuesday campaigns. Implement A/B testing and other strategies to better understand donor behavior and optimize fundraising efforts. (30%) 2. Pull and validate data for each appeal utilizing front-end or back-end tools, such as PL/SQL Developer or Excel, as appropriate. Cleanse and transform the output file into the required format as needed by the mail house, email marketing system, or another communication channel. (25%) 3. Support the data needs of the Engagement Center by developing an information exchange between the University Advancement CRM. Collaborate with the annual giving colleagues to assist with creating Engagement Center segments and ensuring that outreach results are making their way back into the University Advancement CRM. (10%) 4. Collaborate with DASR colleagues to develop visualizations and reports that synthesize complex data into actionable intelligence and inform strategy. (20%) 5. Collaborate with DASR colleagues to ensure that the University Advancement CRM and other elements of the division's technology ecosystem effectively support Annual Giving business needs. (10%) 6. Requisite Qualifications * Typically a bachelor's degree in data analysis, data science, business analytics, or related field or equivalent experience. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of regulation/policy changes. * Three years of experience with data analytics, ideally in a fundraising setting. Demonstrated knowledge of audience targeting and segmentation, while leveraging analysis of donor data, identifying patterns, and grouping donors based on shared characteristics. * Direct experience with relational databases, preferably those used in advancement: Ellucian Advance, Raiser's Edge, or any of the common managed packages for Salesforce like Advancement RM or ascend. Basic understanding of key fundraising data concepts such as donor, gift, and pledge. * Proficiency in a programming language like SQL and proven ability to use Excel, some exposure to BI tools like Tableau is a plus. * Considerable skill and judgment in the collection, evaluation, and interpretation of data to develop sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations. * Working accurately with data and systems is crucial. Perform quality checks on each product produced before it is distributed. Perform regular reviews of all source data to ensure business and integrity rules are adhered to. * Understanding of the principles and practices of systems development; ability to complete complex projects using independent judgment; ability to troubleshoot problems quickly and effectively. * Demonstrated skill in analyzing situations quickly and accurately, and in devising and executing an effective course of action; interpersonal skills to collaborate well with users in identifying and preparing for special projects and programs. * Understanding of LMU's mission and University Advancement fundraising. #HERC# #HEJ# Staff Regular Salary range $66,560.00 - $75,200.00 Salary commensurate with education and experience.
