ABOUT THE ROLE


Provide design engineering on Honeywells Momentum Control product lines at the Glendale Space Division. The candidate will work in a team environment on Reaction Wheel Assemblies (RWA) products from the proposal, design, and analysis segments through manufacturing and test, to support of delivered hardware.


RESPONSIBILITIES


The Advanced Mechanical Design Engineer will support mechanical technical aspects of programs, including management and coordination of the mechanical technical team, design and development, design reviews, scheduling, budgets, staffing, baseline control, risk management, technical customer interface, milestone management and failure investigations and problem resolution. The candidate will be required to support proposal efforts for proposals ranging from minor scope changes on existing programs to a complete proposal efforts for the mechanical portion of the new business. Travel: up to 10% US


This role is on a Hybrid Work Schedule - Note: For the first 90 days, New Hires must be prepared to work 100% onsite M-F

U.S. CITIZEN REQUIREMENTS

Mustbe a US Citizen due to contractual requirements

MUST HAVE




  • 5+ years of mechanical or aerospace engineering experience


  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics




WE VALUE




  • Bachelor's of Science Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an ABET accredited university


  • Experience in momentum control, specifically Reaction Wheel Assemblies, for space applications


  • Experience in mechanical requirements evaluation; design, modification, and test; reviewing and approving the work of other mechanical team members; and interfacing directly with customers and management in meetings and telecoms


  • Strong design and analysis skills


  • Fluent in Microsoft Office tools, Word, Excel, Project, Visio, and PowerPoint


  • Knowledge of the following software programs desired: MATLAB, NX, and Nastran


  • Excellent communication skills to positively influence customer, suppliers and teams


  • Self motivated, willing to take ownership and lead mechanical engineering efforts from proposal through on-orbit support


  • Ability to creatively resolve issues by evaluation of technical data and risk assessments


  • Good people skills and ability to work effectively with other organizations and individuals at all levels from aides to upper management
