The CUNY School of Medicine (CUNY SOM) is seeking an Associate Dean for Institutional Advancement to help lead the school during a transformational time of dramatic change and dynamic growth. They will pursue external resources to meet the school's quadripartite mission and elevate CUNY Med's profile. This collaborative individual will carry out CUNY Med's and CUNY's strategic priorities. They will serve as the Associate Dean for InstitutionalAdvancement and provide strategic leadership in fundraising, board development and relations, alumni affairs, and communications.The Associate Dean oversees a team of professional staff responsible for advancement and fundraising, communications,prestigious events and public programming, and digital media. This leadership position involves frequent high-level interaction and collaboration withleadersacrossthefullrangeofthemedical education, research, and clinical eco-system. This isafull-time position that reports directly to the Dean or her designee, is a senior member of the Dean's Cabinet, and will work closely and strategicallywith the Executive Leadership Team and with the Chair of the School's new Foundation Board. Through the execution of the Institutional Advancement portfolio, the Associate Dean champions the academic mission of the school and works tobuildcommunity acrosstheenterprise. Although fundraising hassignificantly increased, prioritiesfortheposition include expanding anddiversifying thedonor base,securing majorgifts, stewarding major donors and developing a pipeline of new ones, maintaining productive relationships with strategic partners, and harnessing the power of digital communications to enhance the visibility of the college's impact is expected.hTThe Associate Dean will ensure that CUNY MED can attract and retain a diverse and effective advancement team. Responsibilities include and are not limited to: ?? Provides strategic leadership and management ofthe Advancement and Communications team-overseeing allfundraising, alumniaffairs,foundationboardrelations,andinternal and external communications. ?? Oversees planning and execution ofindividual, corporate, and foundation fundraising activitiesincludingcultivationandstewardship,expandinganddiversifyingthedonorbase, and ensuring that fundraising goals are established and met. ?? Oversees thecreation andmanagement ofnewandexisting programs andinitiatives, suchas theCUNYGivingTuesday,thatincreasedonorparticipation andgeneratenewresourcesand support for the school. ?? Works closely with developing the School's Foundation Board, maintains astrong and transparent relationship with the board; and assists with developing the foundation's operationsincluding developing theannualfoundationbudget,ensuringcompliance withall school and university policies, and working with the Chair of the Board and thecollege's Associate Dean for Finance toensure sound fiscal management. ?? Develop andoverseetheexecution ofstrategies toengagethealumnicommunity andgrow alumni participation and giving. ?? Oversees the development and distribution ofall internal and external communications, special and signature events, public programming, media, and public relations, dean's communications,digital media,socialmedia,andcrisiscommunicationsactivities,ensuring the school's public face---online and through the media-is consistent with its mission and supports the achievement of its fundraisinggoals. ?? ServesasliaisontoCUNY CentralOfficeandViceChancellorforAdvancement onmatters related to development, fundraising, public affairs, and communications. ?? Performsother relateddutiesasassignedbytheDean. *This position may include evening and weekend hours. QUALIFICATIONS This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the landscape of academic medicine, college, and public institutional advancement and communications, and a demonstrated commitment to furthering access and equity with a focus on inclusive excellence for underrepresented medicine students and underserved communities. They are entrepreneurial, innovative, strategic, and passionate about their role in achieving the quadripartite mission including student success, faculty talent, and discovery; experts in fundraising ethics, research,and cultivation and solicitation practices; and adept at driving creative, innovative digital communicationscampaigns to achieve institutional goals. Thepreferredcandidateshouldhavetheseadditionalqualifications: Anadvanced degree and atleastten years ofsenior-level managerial experience incomplex, diverse organizational settings in both the non-profit and higher education sectors CFREdesignation. Experienceinandknowledgeofacademicmedicineand thehealthprofessions. CFRECertificationpreferred Leadershipexperienceinadvancement,development,andalumnirelations. Demonstratedexpertiseinboard relationsandboarddevelopment. Excellent interpersonal,organizational,and communicationskills, bothoral and written, as well as excellent judgment. Abilitytomanagemultipleprojectssimultaneouslyandmeetprojectdeadlines. Demonstratedculturalsensitivityandacommitmenttodiversity,equity,andinclusion. Leadinplanningandachieving strategicgoalsandobjectivesandprioritizethemconsistent with the mission and vision of the school. CUNY TITLE Associate Dean COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS $170,000 - $220,000 Salary commensurate with education and experience.
