Construction Scheduling Consultant - Military Veterans
at RecruitMilitary Placement Services
Our client is a construction consulting firm focused on assisting their customers in delivering successful projects. They are looking for some detail-oriented Construction Scheduling Consultants to join their team. Under the supervision of the Vice President, Managing Consultant, Senior Consultant and/or Project Consultant II, the Scheduling Consultant position provides a broad range of administrative, managerial, and technical support on projects. This individual is responsible for implementing and monitoring project control tools including meeting minutes, action item lists, trend charts and project schedules and preparing project progress and performance reports. They need people with construction backgrounds who are organized, understand construction means and methods, and have experience in construction management and project scheduling.
Over time, this individual would be capable of taking on more of the day-to-day management projects with minimal oversight and direction, moving up to a Project Consultant and then Senior Consultant role. You will provide support to project team members to ensure that projects are executed in accordance with established means and methods and client policies and procedures. You will also assist in developing, monitoring and maintaining schedules for multiple construction projects of various sizes and complexity. These projects are for the most part the construction of large apartment complexes, hotels and hospitals, along with some government work.
This position is based out of the Fort Lauderdale area and only requires about 25% travel for most jobs. You will report daily to your office having meetings and work collaboratively with senior-level leadership and project stakeholders to identify detailed tasks, durations, dependencies and resources necessary to build, update and maintain the Overall Project Schedule (OPS). You will also be monitoring project timelines and deadlines. You will need to make regular visits to the construction project and walk the site to see what the status is of all aspects of the project. You will produce a report based on this and have a lengthy meeting afterwards with all stake holders to let them know not only what you saw but to let them know anything that must be done to get the project (or parts of the project) back on track if needed. This position requires excellent communication skills both in person and virtually as you will need to diplomatically communicate schedule performance and advise the project team on status and preventative or corrective actions required.
Scheduling Consultants usually work 40-50 or more hours a week, but you will always be home for the weekend.
For the most part you will be assessing the status of the work being performed, build a report and meet with all participants, go over your evaluation and determine how to get the project back on track.
They need someone with Construction PM or similar experience on construction sites. They also need someone with strong computer skills who either has knowledge of scheduling programs or can learn it quickly. While not a necessity, experience with scheduling programs will be very beneficial so be prepared to speak about it
Base salary, $75- $80K DOE. A great benefits plan is offered.
Join a company where a strong work ethic and positive attitude will be met with opportunities to develop and enrich your career, as you learn, teamwork and leadership skills.
