at Herc - Norcal

Dr. England's research laboratory ( https://pharm.ucsf.edu/england ) is developing small molecules to control the activity of nuclear receptors, a class ligand-regulated transcription factors that play critical roles in human health and disease. The Biophysicist prepares and purifies proteins (expression in E. coli), and characterizes the interaction of small molecules with the protein. These interactions will be measured using one or more common biophysical methods including microscale thermophoresis (MST), Forster resonance energy transfer (FRET), and fluorescence polarization (FP) assays.
