Part-Time Instructors and Open Faculty Pool / Criminal Justice Department Campus Title: Part-Time Instructors and Open Faculty Pool Department: Criminal Justice FLSA Status: Exempt Job Type: Part-Time Temporary Timeframe: Academic Semesters 2024/2025 Shift: TBD Regular Days Off: Saturday and Sunday Supervision Received: Reports directly to the Chair of the Criminal Justice Department Supervision Exercised: None Salary: Unit Member per credit $2,253.60 / Per 3 credit class $6,760.80 Non-Unit Member per credit $1,496.73 / Per 3 credit class $4,490.19 General Statement of Duties: The Criminal Justice Department at Westfield State University seeks applications for part-time instructors to teach undergraduate courses to support our department's mission and its curriculum. A specific job posting for Fall 2024 is for an in-person section of either CRJU101 (Introduction to Criminal Justice) or CRJU205 (American Judicial Systems). In addition, there are 'Open Pool' positions expected in future semesters, in-person and online. When future openings occur, the department chair will draw from the pool of applicants on file as needed. The Part-Time Faculty Pool is open to qualified and competent experts, external to the University faculty who possess skills, education and experience in an academic and/or professional area. All part-time faculty are responsible for providing our students with a high-quality learning environment. Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include but not limited to: Essential: Instruction in both traditional and non-traditional learning modes Instructional preparation Assessment of student performance, including submission of final grades in a timely fashion Availability to students by appointment when mutually convenient Submitting a course syllabus Job Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master's Degree in Criminal Justice or related field. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated ability to use a variety of teaching and assessment strategies to promote and evaluate student learning, teaching experience preferred. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Terminal degree in Criminal Justice or related field.
