AVP Claim Manager - Environmental (Hybrid) - Military Veterans

The Environmental team is part of Chubb Environmental Claims and provides specialized claim handling of first- party and third-party voluntary pollution claims. Environmental Claims is part of Chubb Severity North America Claims.

This is a hybrid opportunity, 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Assist team members in developing and executing claim resolution strategies.
• Train, develop and manage a team of handlers who are newer to the insurance industry, by developing and executing on individual professional development plans for each team member.
• Recognize significant potential exposures on claims and prepare appropriate alerts to senior managers and our internal business partners.
• Conduct monthly self-audits against Best Practices standards.
• Provide exceptional service to our internal and external business partners.
• Analyzes and identifies coverage issues timely coverage and communicates coverage positions to appropriate parties.
• Authorize reserve and settlement authority to team members.
• Directs and closely monitors cases with financial impact in team through trial/resolution.
• Timely sets reserves within authority or makes claim recommendations concerning reserve changes to management.
• Travels to conferences, mediations and trials as necessary. Travel ranges from approximately 5% to 15%, but it could be more as dictated by business needs.

• In depth knowledge of environmental and casualty.


• 5 years of direct claims handling experience.


• Experience in leadership and management.


• Environmental specialists strongly preferred.


• An ability to work independently and assimilate learning materials on many different subjects from various sources.


• Excellent interpersonal communications and negotiation skills; and an ability to deal with customers and business partners in a professional manner.


• Ability to make prompt, intelligent decisions based upon detailed analysis of complex issues.


• Demonstrated strong relational skills, particularly in adverse or high-pressure situations.


• A law degree is not necessary but recommended.

The pay range for the role is $124,000 to $168,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant's skills and other factors.
