Cell Biologist for Exposomics/Metabolomics Researcher 4 - Military Veterans

The Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota, is recruiting a B.Sc. or M.S. scientist to conduct work on biomarker research programs for human risk assessment of environmental and dietary toxicants on NIH funded programs in the Turesky laboratory.

An experienced cell biologist is sought to develop cell culture-based assay using primary murine/human cells and tumor cell lines to investigate the toxicity and genotoxic effects of dietary and environmental chemicals involved in disease risk, including cancer. The research requires hands-on experience in establishing and maintaining cell cultures. A candidate with a background in cell metabolism, metabolomics or exposomics research is highly desirable. The candidate is expected to work closely with Principal Investigators to conduct mechanistic studies and untargeted metabolomics research employing mass spectrometry approaches.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree and 2 years of related experience or BS/BA and 4 years of related experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. The candidate should be proficient in writing reports, presentations for lab meeting, proficient with software programs such as Microsoft word, powerpoint, excel, Adobe illustrator.
  • The candidate must be organized and work diligently to meet timelines.
  • Responsible for general lab maintenance and organization

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in isolating DNA, RNA, and mitochondria, cellular metabolism and metabolomics studies, western blot methods, PCR.
  • Extensive hands-on experience on operating and maintaining cell culture and cell-based cytotoxicity assays.
  • Background in analytical chemistry, HPLC
  • Strong computer skills and experience in post-data analysis of metabolomics data and biostatistics

Salary Range
$44,366 to $106,496
