Responsibilities




  • Performs highly complex (senior level) floor maintenance work. Serves as the main custodial representative in the coordination and performance of special cleaning projects as well as daily cleaning duties in accordance with standard procedures of the custodial department and with client objectives.


  • Coordinates with building facility managers, custodial supervisor and program manager for all after hour’s floor maintenance projects.


  • Uses cleaning equipment, including automatic floor machines, commercial vacuums, carpet shampooers and carpet extractors, wet mops, large wringers and other necessary equipment, tools, chemicals and supplies.Wet dry vacuums and mop floors, scrub and buff floors with rotor and other machines, vacuum carpets to clean and control bacteria.


  • Moves furniture as needed to perform floor maintenance.


  • Maintains assigned equipment for cleanliness and requests repairs when needed.


  • Assist with distribution of supplies to lower-level employees.


  • Supervises other lower-level employee such as floor technicians and custodians and participates in the movement of equipment,supplies to and from storage areas to buildings.


  • Works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.


  • Responsible for reporting any un-safe/hazardous situations related to any AFO work being performed at the NIH campus.


  • Ability to supervise any project work that is assigned to him/her to completion and inspect other lower-level workers work.




Qualifications




  • Minimum 6 years demonstrated detailed experience in advanced level, multi-discipline floor maintenance techniques, custodial operations and procedures.


  • High school diploma or GED required.


  • Knowledge of inventory control principles and methods.


  • Advanced skill in the application of custodial floor care materials and chemicals; in the operation of floor care equipment; and in the use and maintenance of all standard custodial tools and equipment.


  • Ability to read, write and speak and understand English.


  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license.


  • Must be able to stand, walk, reach and bend for long periods of time. Ability to work shift starting 7am – 3:30am.
