Continuous Improvement Intern - Military Veterans

What you will do

In accordance with corporate and group policies and procedures, and under direction of the Quality and Continuous Improvement Manager for the North America Parts Business, the Continuous Improvement Intern shall take ownership for the effective and timely application of lean tools and principles through the exercise of project management. You will evaluate current business performance and identify gaps in critical areas which limit efficient operations. This role is responsible for establishing and implementing improvement plans while supervising progress to ensure updates achieve desired results and are initiated in a timely manner.

How you will do it

• Lead the improvement of processes and systems for the company and implement programs that will have continuing long-term benefits.

• Monitor existing processes to make sure they continue to perform at optimal levels of efficiency.

• Guide and challenge cross-functional teams in development and initiation of continuous improvement activities to reduce cycle time, inventory, and waste while improving process performance, quality, and standardizing the processes

• Guides the development of methods and better practices to reduce process variation and supports in the development of new processes

• Interact with colleagues, functional leaders, and other departments to ensure that strategic objectives are considered in ongoing projects to achieve identified goals

• Function as a resource for continuous improvement methodologies, through the facilitation and use of Lean tools, techniques, and methodologies in all levels and aspects of the business

• Ensure continuous improvement training, tools, better practices, and resources are available to associates at all levels and are being applied appropriately and effectively

• Implements SOPs across the Baltimore Parts Center

• Work with teams on the shop floor to complete waste walks and improvement action.

• Will work on documenting processes and supporting projects at BPC (Shipping Office, Accounting, and supporting to projects like 5S, Warehouse Layout design etc)

• Will also work on various dashboards that need to be developed.

• Location redesign, labeling and slotting.

• Work with Quality Engineer to create process quizzes for Acadia for other functional areas (Customer Service, Supply Chain etc)

What we look for

Required
• University degree and 1 year suggested minimum experience, or 2 year degree and 6 years suggested minimum experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Masters preferred.

• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office (Project, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)

• Highly effective interpersonal and organizational skills, professional communication, and decision-making abilities

• Ability to exercise influence without authority

• Adept to thinking strategically, envisioning future states and creating change

• Ability to be proactive, follow up and follow through on regular activities and lead projects

• Be able to establish solid relationships with diverse internal and external clientele
