The University of Chicago's Department of Medicine, Section of General Internal Medicine, is partnering with the Department of Pediatrics to search for full-time faculty members with experience in general medicine-pediatrics to focus on clinical, educational, and quality improvement. The Medicine-Pediatrics (Med-Peds) Residency program was established in 1982 and trains 16 Med-Peds residents per year. Over half of the approximately 100 graduates have continued in general Med- Peds careers while the other half pursue subspecialty training. Appointees will join a well-established General Medicine program, including 9 medicine-pediatrics faculty, and develop an academic niche that builds upon our faculty expertise in primary care, health care delivery, medical education, and health equity. Clinical responsibilities include seeing patients in our Primary Care Group at our Hyde Park campus and occasionally at our network and affiliate sites. Leadership opportunities may be available. Other duties will include the teaching and supervision of medicine pediatrics trainees and interested students, and scholarly activity. We especially welcome applicants with interest an in team-based care and healthy equity for diverse patient populations. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications. Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, and 3) be board certified or eligible in Internal Medicine or Medicine / Pediatrics.
