Research Technician I - Gingeras Lab | Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory - Military Veterans

Position Description

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated Research Technician to join our team dedicated to investigating the causes and mechanisms underlying the development of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) from Monoclonal B-cell Lymphocytosis (MBL). This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in cancer biology and genomics.

Position Responsibilities

Perform long and short RNA isolation techniques, single cell isolation, and analyses.

Execute cell culture techniques to support experimental procedures.

Conduct long-read sequencing (PacBio or ONT) and short-read DNA and RNA sequencing.

Utilize ChIPseq and HiCseq approaches for genomic analysis.

Map and annotate sequencing data, demonstrating proficiency in data analysis and interpretation.

Collaborate closely with research scientists to execute experiments and analyze results effectively.

Maintain detailed records of experimental protocols, data, and results.

Communicate findings through presentations, reports, and publications.

Position Requirements

Education: Bachelors degree in Biology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, or a related field. Masters degree preferred. Experience: Previous laboratory experience in molecular biology or genomics research. Skills: Proficiency in RNA and DNA isolation techniques, including single cell methods. Experience with long-read sequencing technologies (PacBio or ONT) and short-read sequencing platforms. Familiarity with ChIPseq and HiCseq techniques for genomic analysis. Strong skills in mapping and annotation of sequencing data. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
