Job Summary
Supporting Auburn Online's instructional design specialists in the creative design process for academic projects.
If you have no fear of technology, and easily connect with people, this position will provide you with meaningful opportunities to help in course development projects, try out new technologies, and make interactive learning experiences more engaging for Auburn University students and faculty.
This position is situated in the Auburn Online offices located in Foy Hall. The Course Production team members will help to create accessible Canvas courses by assisting instructional designers with various tasks to ensure quality course development (includes but is not limited to the duties listed below).
This position supports a hybrid work model.
Essential Functions
Under supervision and guidance of the Team Lead and Project Coordinator, the individual in this position will perform a range of work matching their skillset, including but not limited to:
* Transfer content from instructor resources onto Canvas page(s)
* Create video transcript PDF files
* Embed videos/audios and associated transcripts
* Build question banks
* Create course graphics for learning subject matter content
* Identify, optimize and embed photos and graphics on pages
* Create multimedia presentations for use in courses or video production
* Create interactive learning objects and activities
* Create accessible charts/graphs/diagrams
* Create animations, animated movies and 3D models
* Communicate regularly with team members, Team Lead, and Project Coordinator on work tasks and progress

Minimum Qualifications
While this is an entry level position and does not require a college degree, there are certain skills needed to be successful in this position:
Skills:
- Effective communication (written and verbal)
- Proficient with cloud-based technology and software, particularly, Microsoft Office 365 and Adobe Creative Cloud
- Personal traits to include self-starter, independent worker, critical thinker, quick learner, adaptable, patient, attention to detail, and accountable

Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with Canvas or other learning management system (LMS)
- Understanding of basic HTML
- Good knowledge in design and design tools, including but not limited to Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator
- Experience with 3D modeling and/or virtual learning experiences, and software including but not limited to Sketchup, Blender, and Rhino
- Minimum commitment of three semesters

Welcome to Auburn University!
Auburn University was established in 1856 as the East Alabama Male College, 20 years after the city of Auburn's founding. In 1872, under the Morrill Act, the school became the first land-grant college in the South and was renamed the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama. In 1899 the name again was changed, to the Alabama Polytechnic Institute. Finally, in 1960 the name of the school was changed to Auburn University, a title more in keeping with its location, and expressing the varied academic programs and larger curriculum of a major university.
Today, Auburn is one of the few universities to carry the torch as a land, sea and space grant university. Our fall 2014 semester enrollment was 25,912. Our students can choose from more than 140 degree options in 13 schools and colleges at the undergraduate, graduate and professional levels.
