Full-time tenure-track Position OR Full-Time Lecturer Position in Manufacturing Management

The University of Minnesota Crookston, one of five campuses comprising the University of Minnesota system, invites applications for a full-time faculty member in the Business Department. Individuals with a Ph.D. and demonstrated potential for research will be considered for a tenure-line appointment. Individuals with a master's degree and/or a terminal degree but without an interest in research will be considered for a full -time lecturer appointment.

Position

Full -time, nine-month, tenure-track or lecturer position in Manufacturing in the Business Department at the Crookston campus of the University of Minnesota starting August 11, 2025 or January 2025. Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience. A competitive fringe benefits package is offered.

Lecturers are eligible for professional development support. This appointment carries a 30.0 credit hour workload per academic year, distributed over the fall and spring semesters. Final job offer is contingent upon complete background check and receipt of official transcripts.

This position involves teaching both on-campus and online courses. The normal teaching load for this position is 15 credits per semester during the academic year. Individuals must be willing to locate to the Crookston/North Grand Forks region before commencing employment.

Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality instruction to undergraduate students in coursework in the field of Manufacturing Management. Course topics may include Applied Quality Management, Lean Six Sigma, Sustainability and Compliance, Product Development, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Industrial Safety, Metrology and Applied Engineering Principles. This position will assist in the development of department goals and objectives; advise students; contribute to student recruitment and retention initiatives; and support research and community outreach in the areas of discipline. The responsibilities also include developing and maintaining strong ties to the manufacturing industry to benefit our programs, student experience and student employment opportunities. Service to the Department, University and Community is also expected. The position requires regular office hours and engagement in service activities on the University of Minnesota Crookston campus.

Tenure-track faculty appointments are required to establish and maintain their own research agendas, which may include community engaged scholarship work and work with undergraduate students. Pursuit of externally funded grants to support research is encouraged. Tenure-line appointments carry a Three to six credits of research release may be granted annually. Service is required in accordance with tenure criteria.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Tenure-track: Doctorate degree or ABD in Engineering, Production Management, Operations Management, or a closely related field (marketing, management, operations research, industrial engineering). [If candidate is ABD and would like to be considered for a tenure-track position, expected terminal degree date must fall within the upcoming academic year].
  • Lecturer: Master's degree in business or related field with 2-3 years of work experience in a production or quality management capacity.
  • Strong commitment to excellence and innovation in teaching at the undergraduate level in both the on-campus and online environments;
  • Effective communication skills;
  • Record of effective teaching;
  • Ability the ability to relate complex concepts to diverse audiences and to draw upon cultural and community-based knowledge in teaching;
  • Possess a commitment to an experiential education philosophy within the scope of our land grant mission;
  • Ability to read, write and understand English;

Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in in Engineering, Production Management, Operations Management, or Supply Chain Operations.
  • Three-Five {3-5} years of professional experience within the field of manufacturing and/or quality management.
  • Campus and on line teaching experience;
  • Research experience in an academic institution;
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness and scholarly publication;
  • Experience creating collaborative partnerships for joint university/community projects;
  • Track record of seeking and successfully implementing externally funded projects and grants.
