Job Type: Officer of Administration Regular/Temporary: Regular Hours Per Week: 35 Building: Geffen Hall Salary Range: $67,000 - $75,000 The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Position Summary The Bernstein Center for Leadership and Ethics oversees Columbia Business School???s leadership development strategy through a comprehensive array of curricular initiatives, programming, and research. The Center engages with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the greater Columbia community on topics related to values-based leadership, ethics, governance, the future of work, and organizational culture. Reporting to the Managing Director, the Assistant Director will play an important role in the overall administration of the Center by managing student engagement and event coordination, co-curricular programming development, financial reconciliation, and overall daily operations of the Center. Responsibilities Student Programming & Advising Serves as primary liaison and lead administrator to the Student Leadership and Ethics Board (SLEB) managing all aspects of the Board???s activities and programming, including but not limited to: Coordinates with student leaders to plan and execute programming and bi-weekly meetings, ensuring alignment with school event policies and best practices. This involves topic/content development, speaker brainstorming/outreach, event logistics, and final delivery. Advises SLEB on board recruitment strategies and annual leadership transition to ensure institutional knowledge transfer and continued cohesive partnership. In coordination with Managing Director, oversees and executes student focus groups through SLEB focused on curriculum development as assigned by Faculty Directors. In coordination with Director of Events and Communications, oversees communication to SLEB Alumni and assists with the thought leadership and execution of alumni strategy and programming. Manages and oversees all Bernstein student engagement efforts including affiliations with external stakeholders and other internal student groups including the Veteran???s Club, Executive Board, CBS Reflects, and DEI Representatives; Provides thought leadership and execution on co-sponsored events including co-creating content ideas; budget development and management; speaker research, outreach, and communications; executing marketing activities; crafting participant experiences; and providing on-site management. In collaboration with the Managing Director and Senior Associate Director for Curriculum and Research, manages and executes event coordination for co-curricular programming including room bookings, catering, ITG/AV, event promotion, and financial reconciliation. Operations & Administration Manages daily office operations including but not limited to monitoring email inboxes, overseeing Center calendar and team meetings, managing Center orders/subscriptions etc. In collaboration with Managing Director and team, responsible for processing monthly budget and financial reconciliations including preparation and maintenance of related records, expense reports, and invoices. Processes and tracks expense reimbursements for faculty, researchers, and students; reconciles monthly P-card expenses, and ensures expenses are allocated to correct accounts and align to a set budget. Serves as CRM manager; responsible for maintenance, any/all migration requirements, and regular updates. Manages and maintains contacts in CiviCRM database on an ongoing basis. Supports and participates in overall Center execution, and suggests general policies, procedures, guidelines to streamline and enhance protocols. Works on additional projects as assigned and shares in the responsibilities of other staff members as a flexible team player at the direction of the Managing Director and Faculty Co-Directors. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor???s degree and/or its equivalent required. Minimum 2-4 years of related experience required. Must be a proven team player, able to work cooperatively in small groups as well as independently with changing priorities and multiple responsibilities. Must be pro-active with excellent organizational and communication skills, acute attention to detail, and computer literate. Must exercise tact and discretion when interacting with faculty, administrators, leaders in academia and business, and with students. Availability to work early mornings or evenings as needed. Preferred Qualifications Candidates should have an interest in higher education and student engagement. Knowledge of database maintenance and financial planning are preferred, but not required.
