Our Institution: Bard College at Simon's Rock, located in Great Barrington, MA, is the only four-year college in the U.S. specifically designed for motivated adolescents to fully realize their academic potential by beginning college immediately after the 10th or 11th grade. BA and AA degrees are granted in over 35 areas of study. Simon's Rock attracts a diverse student population of approximately 400 students, drawn nationally and internationally, with a significant population of students identifying as LGBTQIA2S . For over 50 years, Simon's Rock has practiced the simple yet radical idea that many students are ready for college before the age of 18, an idea that launched the Early College movement in the United States and beyond. In 2015, Simon's Rock launched Bard Academy, a two-year high school program for boarding and day students, with courses designed and taught by college professors and leading to entry into college after the tenth grade. In doing so, Simon's Rock has connected high school and college in one cohesive, coherent six-year arc. In 2019, Simon's Rock established the Early College Research Institute (ECRI), a locus for research into "what's next" in Early College. In 2023,Simon's Rock launched the Bard Queer Leadership Project (BQLP), the first intentionally Queer-serving B.A. degree program in the United States, serving both traditional and non-traditional college students. Bard College at Simon's Rock is a branch campus in the Bard College network, aninternational network of highly innovative and admired educational institutions grounded in the liberal arts and sciences. Summary of Position The Program Manager will assist the Director of the Center for Food and Resilience in building and maintaining the Center's programs, including the campus farm, educational initiatives, and community outreach. The Program Manager will be responsible for promoting the work of CFAR on and off campus, planning and coordinating CFAR events and initiatives, and creating connections to CFAR for students and community partners. The position includes supervision of student workers and oversight of campus projects including compost and sustainability efforts. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Promote CFAR on campus to generate new student programs and connect more students, faculty, and staff Promote CFAR events and activities beyond campus with campus in collaboration with Marketing/Communication department and on CFAR social media channels Network with community partners to manage current partnerships and create new events Assist with event planning and management/hosting of on-campus CFAR events: Farm Fridays, campfires, workshops Assist with planning and hosting the annual ThinkFOOD conference Identify, organize, and submit grant applications for external funding Supervise student employees and create/manage student internships Participate in weekly meetings and represent CFAR on campus committees Coordinate with Campus Dining Services for produce delivery from the farm and compost collection, as well as dining support for events Set up and run CFAR Farm Stand (June-October) on campus, including Square and cash sales, with student assistance; coordinate sales of value-added products (honey and maple syrup) year-round Prepare year-end reports (Annual Impact Report) Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor Maintain compliance with all BCSR policies and procedures Create and submit purchase orders and work with CFAR staff to order supplies Preferred Skills Must be able to communicate clearly and work effectively with wide range of ages and backgrounds Position requires strong organizational skills, creativity, and flexibility Prior experience with event management and grant-writing is helpful Must demonstrate commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in working with students, staff, faculty, and the local community.
