Position Introduction The Department of Biology at Vassar College invites applications for a tenure-track position in Immunology at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in August 2025. Position Description We seek a broadly trained biologist with a focus on Immunology. The successful candidate will teach at all levels of the curriculum, including introductory biology, intermediate-level laboratory courses, and advanced-level courses in the candidates area of expertise. In addition to their work in the Biology Department, the candidate will have the opportunity to teach in Vassars multidisciplinary programs including Neuroscience and Behavior; Biochemistry; Science, Technology, and Society; and Environmental Studies. The teaching load in the first year is four courses (two per semester), and in subsequent years is four classroom courses plus one 'intensive,' which is a small enrollment, closely mentored experience for undergraduates. The successful candidate will have a dedicated research laboratory and office, a student research assistant, start-up funds, and access to shared departmental facilities and equipment ( https://www.vassar.edu/science ). Development of a productive research program with student participation is expected. A Ph.D. in biology or a related field is required and postdoctoral experience is preferred. Salary Wage Range Pay Transparency Disclosure: The annual starting salary range for this position is $92,000 to $102,000 (USD). This range includes new faculty appointments beginning the first year of a standard tenure clock as well as Assistant Professors with previous tenure-line experience who will be on an accelerated tenure clock. When extending an offer of employment, Vassar College considers factors such as (but not limited to) candidates education/training, work experience, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations. This salary range represents the Colleges good faith and reasonable estimate at the time of posting. The starting salary for an Assistant Professor in this position with a PhD beginning the first year of a standard tenure clock in Fall 2025 is $96,000.
