Job Summary: The Department of Medical Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, School of Veterinary (SVM) invites applications for a Clinical Track, full-time, renewable Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor position within the Dermatology Section of the UW Veterinary Care Hospital. The SVM is a collegial, collaborative environment that offers specialty care with board-certified experts in allied services including anesthesia and pain management, cardiology, dentistry and oral surgery, diagnostic imaging, emergency and critical care, internal medicine, neurology, medical and radiation oncology, ophthalmology, anatomic and clinical pathology, primary care, special species, and soft tissue and orthopedic surgery. The successful candidate will participate in the clinical activities of the teaching hospital, including the provision of patient care and instruction and supervision of veterinary students, interns, and residents. Availability and willingness to consult with referring veterinarians and clients, provide supervision of the dermatology service, and collaborate with other services within the hospital are vitally important. Approximately 750 dermatology patients are evaluated annually, and the caseload in the Small Animal Clinic is comprised of approximately 80% dogs and 20% cats. Additionally, the Dermatology Service provides collaboration, consultation, and procedural support for patients hospitalized by other small animal specialties. The team is excited to expand and grow into a newly built teaching hospital in April 2024, which will enhance our quality of care and allow us to function in a markedly expanded footprint. Responsibilities: Clinical track faculty at the University of Wisconsin are expected to participate in clinical and didactic teaching of veterinary students, interns, and residents; participate in continuing education programs; and conduct basic science or clinical research that advances academic clinical practice. Duties include, but are not limited to: CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES 45% 1. 22 weeks of clinical coverage and teaching 2. Training and supervision of residents and interns 3. Clinical teaching of 4th year veterinary students NON-CLINICAL TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES 20% 1. Didactic teaching 2. Laboratory course teaching RESEARCH RESPONSIBILITIES 25% 1. Contribute and participate in clinical research in the Dermatology section SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES 10% 1. Involvement in committees at the department, school, university, and professional organization levels 2.
