Position Summary The Licensed Therapist and Clinical Supervisor will provide clinical services to students and supervise interns, contributing to the comprehensive mental health support offered by the university. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in therapeutic practices, strong leadership in supervision, and a deep commitment to fostering a supportive environment for student well-being, which is at the core of our mission. Key Responsibilities: Clinical Services Individual and Group Therapy: Provide short-term and long-term therapy to students addressing issues such as anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, and academic stress. Crisis Intervention: Offer immediate support and intervention for students experiencing mental health crises, including risk assessment and safety planning. Consultation Services: Collaborate with faculty, staff, and other campus stakeholders to support student mental health and provide consultation on mental health-related issues. Outreach and Education: Develop workshops, seminars, and other outreach programs to promote mental health awareness and education among students. Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion practices within clinicians' scope of practice and utilization of resources for our increasingly diverse student population. Demonstrated knowledge in the application of student development theories. Demonstrated knowledge in addressing the needs of a diverse student population. Effective mentoring and coaching skills. Exceptional interpersonal skills for engagement across campus constituencies - students, faculty, staff, families, alumni, etc. Conducts group counseling, psychoeducational groups, and drop-in groups. Consults with students, faculty and staff regarding student concerns and student distress that affect students' developmental and psychological well-being in the university community. Consults and collaborates with psychiatrists, physicians, campus entities, off-campus mental health professionals, social agencies, and community resources to meet the mental health needs of students. Determines the need for other professional interventions and refers as necessary. Clinical Supervision Intern Supervision: Provide clinical supervision to graduate interns in psychology, counseling, or social work programs, ensuring adherence to ethical guidelines and professional standards. Training and Development: Develop and implement training programs for interns, including case consultation, didactic training, and professional development. Evaluation: Conduct regular performance evaluations for interns, offering constructive feedback and guidance to support their professional growth and competency. Administrative Duties Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation per university policies and ethical standards. Program Development: Assist in developing and evaluating campus counseling programs and services, contributing to improving mental health support on campus. Committee Participation: Serve on relevant committees and participate in departmental meetings to support the goals and initiatives of the program. Qualifications Licensure: Must hold a current and unrestricted license as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), marriage and family therapist (LMFT), or professional counselor in California. Experience: Minimum of two years of post-licensure clinical experience in a mental health setting, preferably in a university or college environment. Supervisory Experience: Proven experience providing clinical supervision to graduate-level interns, including knowledge of supervision models and techniques. Expertise: Proficiency in various therapeutic approaches and modalities, with demonstrated ability to work with a diverse student population. Preferred Specializations: Experience or certification in specialized areas such as trauma-informed care, substance abuse, or multicultural counseling. Bilingual Skills: Proficiency in a second language. Skills and Competencies Clinical Skills: Strong diagnostic and therapeutic skills provide effective, evidence-based short-term mental health care. Supervisory Skills: Ability to mentor and develop interns, fostering their clinical skills and professional growth. Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse individuals and teams. Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple responsibilities and priorities. Cultural Competence: Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in mental health services and supervision.
