Assistant Athletics Director, Compliance | Loyola Marymount University - Military Veterans

Under supervision of the Senior Associate Athletic Director - Compliance, the Assistant Athletics Director - Compliance will assist in ensuring compliance with University, all sports conference affiliations, and the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) rules and regulations. The Assistant Athletics Director - Compliance will work with specific sports determined upon arrival and be responsible for specific areas of the compliance program based on experience and expertise. The Assistant Athletics Director - Compliance will interact and collaborate with student-athletes, coaches, staff, and other LMU constituents to ensure shared responsibility and an effective culture of compliance. Position Specific Responsibilities/Accountabilities Assist in development, implementation, and documentation of all departmental policies and procedures related to NCAA rules compliance and rules education for student-athletes, athletics staff, applicable university staff, and representatives of athletics interests. Research and interpret conference and NCAA rules and regulations and review with appropriate constituencies. Serve as sport facilitator for assigned sports including responding to interpretive inquiries, preparing and submitting waiver requests, and investigating and filing Level III rules violations. Responsible for bylaw-specific procedural tasks and documentation requirements in for assigned NCAA bylaws. Anticipated to include bylaw areas of initial eligibility and admissions, amateurism and athletics eligibility, financial aid, recruiting monitoring (off-campus recruiting, campus visits, camps), and playing and practice seasons. Monitor eligibility: Assist in continuing, transfer, and initial eligibility certification. Evaluate prospective student-athlete initial academic eligibility. Serve as a direct contact with the Admissions Office and NCAA Eligibility Center. Continually monitor and create policy and procedures for multiple areas including: Playing and practice season, amateurism, personnel, recruiting, and awards and benefits. Financial Aid: Assist in the monitoring of all applicable NCAA financial aid regulations including the National Letter of Intent program. Assist in supervision of graduate assistant(s) and student employee(s) in their performance of compliance-related responsibilities. Assist with sporting event management as assigned. Represent the Athletics Department within the LMU community, and LMU within the intercollegiate athletics community and at professional organizations or associations. Serve on committees as required. NCAA, Conference, and University Rules Compliance Conduct all aspects of program in accordance with the rules and policies established by Loyola Marymount University, the Athletics Department, all Sports Conference Affiliations, and the national Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Complete all rules compliance information as required. Participate in an annual evaluation of adherence to rules compliance (LMU, Athletic Department, Sports Conference Affiliations, NCAA) with immediate supervisor. Conduct evaluation of adherence to rules compliance (LMU, Athletic Department, Sport Conference Affiliations, NCAA) with all assigned personnel Requisite Qualifications Minimum 2-3 years demonstrated full-time experience and expertise in knowledge of NCAA athletic compliance. Experience at a NCAA Division I institution, conference office, or NCAA national office preferred. Proven ability to interact with a diverse population; work with policies and procedures in a University environment; establish and manage goals and strategies; assess situations, think analytically, make difficult decisions; some evening, weekend, and holiday hours as required. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong attention to detail. Developed organizational and leadership skills. Demonstrated knowledge and competency with Microsoft office suite, NCAA software systems, and Teamworks Compliance + Recruiting Software or equivalent software system. Typically a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience. Master's degree preferred. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of regulation/policy changes.
