Job Summary The Assistant Director, University Communications is a key member of the Harvard Public Affairs and Communications (HPAC) team, responsible for planning, developing and implementing communications strategies to advance a wide range of university initiatives and priorities. Reporting to the Managing Director, University Communications, the Assistant Director is a primary member of the team responsible for both short- and long-term communications strategic planning and implementation. Working in close coordination with university and program leaders, along with communications, content and digital-focused colleagues across the university, the Assistant Director will craft, develop and deploy effective and innovative communications tactics, activities and campaigns to support and advance both internal and external facing initiatives and priorities. Position Description Serve as a primary communications strategist and manager in supporting various university-level priorities, programs and initiatives, including leading communications planning, execution and collaboration with colleagues within HPAC and across the university. Lead and facilitate planning processes and the development of strategic communications plans, as well as creative and strategic projects, that advance university and program priorities and goals, including effective brainstorming and other concept origination activities, developing project implementation tactics and timelines, and identifying resource needs. Lead and manage the implementation and execution of strategic communications plans and creative and strategic projects, including assembling and leading working groups and other teams for implementation, vendor management, ensuring effective project execution, accountability and progress toward timeline benchmarks, and assessing results and impact in achieving project goals. Collaborate with colleagues on and lead planning on strategies aimed at strengthening brand and reputation, as well as demonstrating institutional impact, in key issue and focus areas that are fundamental to Harvard's mission and higher education.
