Description

We are currently seeking a Principal/Market Leader for the Southern California region based in our San Diego office. This leadership role requires expertise in Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic business development plans to grow our MEP practice. This involves identifying new market opportunities and growing existing relationships. The role also involves close collaboration with affiliate companies to improve joint opportunities and tap into existing clients and markets. Additionally, the individual will be responsible for financial management and overall production/project execution. This is a seller/doer role with a 35-50% project utilization target.

Essential Duties:

  • Provides leadership to the operations and functional teams in the local office, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
  • Adds new markets, new business development and clients and broadens the capabilities of the office.
  • Leverage capabilities of and coordinate pursuits and work with sister and affiliate companies to grow revenue and client relationships across the portfolio of companies.
  • Coordinates sophisticated projects to successful completion (on time, on budget).
  • Focuses on new business development and cultivating client relationships in diverse private sector markets (e.g., defense contractors, industrial, aviation, healthcare, life sciences, commercial real estate, higher education, federal and public sector work)
  • Lead the office's financial health including budgeting, forecasting and financial performance.
  • Ensure quality delivery of all projects by ensuring robust quality control processes are followed.
  • Accountable for office metrics including, but not limited to:
  • Revenue and Contribution Profit
  • Net New Work Added and Backlog
  • Headcount & Utilization; Provide people leadership to the office
  • Provides mentorship and motivation to staff on performance feedback, technical mentorship, financial management, and client relations.
  • Identifies and develops emerging talent and leadership to build upward opportunity and succession planning.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Directs a total of +/- 40 employees in various business development and operations functions.
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these teams.
  • Fulfills supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and advising work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Professional Requirements

  • 15 years related experience in Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) leadership roles.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in engineering, business, or a related field is required.
  • Proven experience in MEP design and project management.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to empower and guide a team.
  • Excellent communications and negotiation abilities.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations and standard methodologies.
  • Accurate license or certificate strongly preferred.
Compensation

The approximate compensation range for this position $144,293 - $249,998 per year. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location. The role will be eligible for performance-based bonus based on meeting / exceeding the established performance metrics.

ENGINEERING, PLANNING AND CONSULTING

 

The Engineering, Planning and Consulting business unit encompasses the complete life-cycle of planning, environmental assessment, engineering design, construction management, and facilities maintenance for projects in more than 38 countries on five continents. We provide a full continuum of solutions for a broad range of markets, including highways, bridges, airports, rail and mass transit systems, domestic and overseas government and commercial facilities, water and wastewater infrastructure, energy infrastructure and urban planning and development.

 

Professional Services – As part of Engineering, Planning and Consulting, this business unit provides high-value, differentiated engineering and professional services around the globe, including specialized construction services, cost management support and engineering support.
