Gulf Liquids - Capital/General Ledger Accountant II/Sr I (Hybrid Schedule) - Military Veterans

Position Description:


  • This position will report to the Gulf Liquids Accounting Manager. It is responsible for the overall accuracy of regional capital accounting, tank cleaning accounting, transmix accounting, VRU gains, some opex accounting, and the region's balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Work closely with capital controller, property accounting, engineering, and finance groups and have an understanding of the AFE process.

  • Assist with the successful integration of new projects and acquisitions including review of additions to the fixed asset register.

  • Quarterly review of the fixed asset register for all terminals in the region.

  • Prepare detailed reconciliation of tank cleaning bill-back activity and bill-back status report for management.

  • Manage transmix accounting activity: semi-annual cost recovery calculation, monthly settlement with intercompany partners, and reconciliation of all related activity.

  • Actively participate in monthly/quarterly close including the preparation of journal entries, trend analysis and reports with limited supervision.

  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and contract asset/liability reconciliations.

  • Perform monthly/ quarterly variance analysis of expenses comparing actuals to budget and forecast for certain terminals.

  • Assist with creation of monthly financial management reporting package.

  • Understand processes in areas of responsibility to drive process improvements.

  • Serve as an additional point of contact for field operations personnel for various projects.

  • Complete special projects and annual objectives as assigned.



Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting (4 year degree).

  • Minimum 3 - 7 years of work experience in related field.

  • CPA or MBA is a plus.

  • Public accounting experience is a plus.

  • Midstream accounting experience is a plus.

  • Working experience with ERP systems. Lawson, Blackline, HFM, Essbase, Smartview experiences preferred

  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

  • Multi-Tasking capabilities.

  • Detail Oriented / Task Oriented.

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Strong organizational skills. Sense of urgency to complete assigned tasks on time and accurately.
