Associate Director of Retail Operations Job #: 040649 Location Syracuse, NY Pay Range: $82,000 - $100,000 Hours: Standard University business hours 8:30am - 5:00pm (academic year) 8:00am - 4:30pm (summer) Hours may vary based on operational needs. Job Type: Full-time Job Description: The Associate Director of Retail Operations will have responsibility in concept ideation, marketing, training, control costs, grow revenues, and all other facets of operations in multiple retail outlets with an operating budget of $12M. The Associate Director will be expected to engage with building stakeholders and the Executive Chef to create menus which are relevant to customers of our retail outlets. Further, the Associate Director must work closely with Centralized Services to ensure appropriate product is purchased, stored and arrange delivery logistics with the Associate Director of Centralized Services. The Associate Director of Retail Operations will be expected to explain and provide resources to support benchmarks financial targets in each cafe. Qualifications: Degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management or related field. Ten (10) plus years related experience. Experience in a high-volume multi-unit operation. Job Specific Qualifications: Understanding of Food Services information technology and POS systems preferred. Must be able to teach and motivate supervisory staff, bargaining unit employees, student management, student employees, and temporary staff, to provide safe, nutritious meals for student customers, all while keeping NYS sanitation standards. Franchise agreement experience is highly desirable for the Associate Director of Retail Dining at Syracuse University. Responsibilities: Manage the operational activities of all retail outlets which currently include 2 food courts, 10 cafes and 3 convenience stores generating annual revenue of ~$12M. Ensure compliance with franchise agreements, budget, quality guidelines, and safety. Maintain licensed franchise agreements and plan for future franchise opportunities to align with student dining expectations. Leverage new technology in areas to improve customer satisfaction and address labor deficiencies. Work with the Executive Chef to develop appropriate menus, direct food purchases, monitor inventory, and forecast future purchasing and sales. Develop new and exciting menu themes, ideate new concepts, engage student customers, monitor, and maintain budgetary goals. Develop budget recommendations, maintain records, review, and adjust labor and food costs to achieve departmental goals. Process receivables and authorize expenditures. Review and approve payroll. Train employees to be successful at providing excellent customer service. Hold employees accountable for services excellence, awareness of food allergies, cross contact, proper food handling and cooking techniques. Identify efficiencies and cost control measures to improve bottom line results. Meet individually and as a team with management members to define operational goals and objectives. Pro-actively provide recommendations on future enhancements to the program. Successfully meet with your direct reports weekly with 30 minute one on ones. Engage with your teams direct reports and front-line staff weekly to learn more about their roles and responsibilities.
