Director, IT Change & Project Management - Military Veterans

Michael Baker International is seeking a Director, IT Change Management & Portfolio Management. This role will be responsible for managing a portfolio of complex projects in a technical environment. Will drive key programs and projects required to achieve our business and IT goals. As a leader, you exhibit a high level of ownership collaborating with key stakeholders, skilled in organizational change management and assume full accountability for managing and delivering projects and programs. Experience in portfolio planning, change management, leading complex enterprise projects in a fast-paced, high growth, technical environment is critical. The ability to form strong relationships with stakeholders, proactively manage risk, partnering with key business stakeholders, and facilitating high performing teams are essential in this role.

Essential Duties

IT Program & Portfolio Management (50%)

  • PMO Leadership: Manage day-to-day Project Management activities, guide policies and processes, oversee project staff, and collaborate with other department leaders on project development.
  • Business Insight: Understand business units, their drivers for success, and approaches to business models. Identify and prioritize key project stakeholders for effective communication and management.
  • Change Readiness Assessment: Evaluate the organization's readiness for project changes.
  • Financial Analysis: Analyze and develop project budgets, risks, and resource allocation.
  • Strategic Program Development: Contribute to new programs aligned with organizational goals. Support program prioritization by ensuring data-driven decision-making.
  • Project Intake Management: Vet and triage new project ideas.
  • Effective Communication: Share decisions, priorities, and project information with relevant staff.
  • Resource Management: Coordinate project workplans, duties, and authority.
  • Cross-Project Coordination: Manage dependencies within programs.
  • Reporting and Compliance: Ensure accurate project status reports and portfolio dashboards.
  • Requirements Gathering: Collect and prioritize initial and detailed project requirements from stakeholders.
  • Strategic Guidance: Provide program coordination and strategic direction to teams.
  • Business Case Preparation: Analyze alternatives and present business cases to senior leadership.
Change Management (50%)

  • Apply Structured Methodology: Lead change management activities by leveraging a structured methodology, process, and tools. Create strategies to support the adoption of changes required by projects or initiatives.
  • Support Communication Efforts: Enable the design, development, delivery, and management of key communications related to organizational changes.
  • Assess Change Impact: Conduct impact analyses, assess change readiness, and identify key stakeholders affected by the changes.
  • Support Training Efforts: Provide input, document requirements, and assist in designing and delivering training programs.
  • Develop and Implement Change Strategies: Create and execute change management plans to ensure successful adoption of organizational initiatives.
  • Provide Guidance and Support: Assist leaders and employees throughout the change process, ensuring understanding and engagement.
  • Address Resistance: Identify and address resistance to change, collaborating closely with stakeholders to mitigate risks.
  • Monitor and Evaluate Effectiveness: Continuously evaluate change management efforts and adjust as needed for desired outcomes.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Ensure alignment and integration of change management activities with other business initiatives.
  • Stay Current: Keep up-to-date with industry best practices and emerging trends in change management, incorporating them into the company's approach.
Required Experience

  • 15 years of experience, including 7 or more years managing projects and leading teams.
Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Advanced degree (MBA or MIS) preferred.
  • PMP Certification Required
  • Certified Change Management Professional (CCMP) highly preferred
  • ITIL or Six Sigma certifications preferred
Compensation

The approximate compensation range for this position is $131,000 to $227,000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.

Workplace Flexibility

Whether you want to work in the office, at home, or in a hybrid model, we accommodate a variety of preferences, depending on your location in the United States. This position is remote with a strong preference for someone to work in Pittsburgh, PA. Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate.

Professional Services – As part of Engineering, Planning and Consulting, this business unit provides high-value, differentiated engineering and professional services around the globe, including specialized construction services, cost management support and engineering support.
