Job Purpose


As part of Modular Mining’s Product Strategy team, you will be responsible for managing the entire product life cycle for the assigned product lines and therefore have the opportunity to define, analyze, scope, and prioritize product requirements. You'll be tackling tough challenges that require innovative out-of-the-box thinking, an understanding of our customer’s business and operating environment, problem-solving skills, and the ability to make sound business decisions. Some domestic and international travel is required to attend both internal and external meetings.

Job Duties and Responsibilities



  • Create a competitive strategy for the assigned product lines

  • Establish shared vision across the company by building consensus on priorities leading to product execution

  • Act as the liaison between our business and development teams to identify market opportunities, drive the reduction in the time-to-market, and launch completed and marketable products to the end use

  • Maximize efficiency in a constantly evolving environment where the process is fluid and creative solutions are the norm

  • A strong desire to understand the why behind actions and to truly understand the core problem within every opportunity

  • Collaborate with technology platform Product Owners and Software Engineering to provide application and implementation guidance and direction to achieve product release and deployment

  • Triage support issues requiring Software Engineering support, in collaboration with technology platform Product Owners

  • Identify and document opportunities for innovation while working closely with internal and external end users and various mine technology groups

  • Contribute to the sales and support process by providing clients and our regional sales teams with thoughtful responses, product demonstrations, product release bulletins, and value measurement tools

  • An adaptable attitude when it comes to managing projects


Required Skills



  • Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or related discipline

  • 5+ years of Product Management or related experience

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Strong initiative, customer focus, leadership, and interpersonal skills

  • Organizational and analytical skills


Desired Skills



  • MBA or graduate business degree recommended

  • Experience with complex systems

  • Mining operational experience

  • Understanding of Agile development methodologies

  • Experience using Microsoft SQL Server

The Komatsu North America Mining Distribution and Service group is a critical part of our Komatsu global organization.  We, sell, install, service, provide parts and rebuild equipment, as well as provide digital solutions for our customers.  In the United States, we have a presence in 16 states across the US with 30 primary sites.  We have approximately 1,200 employees.   

Our group supports field operations at the customer mine sites as well as shop operations at the Distribution and Service Centers.  A large part of our workforce focuses includes technical trades.   

SLQDC (Safety, Law, Quality, Delivery, and Cost) represents the order of priority for all Komatsu Employees when making decisions.  Safety always comes first.  In addition to Komatsu standards, our operations follow all OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration), DOT (Department of Transportation), Customer, and all federal, state, and local guidelines.
