Job Overview
Komatsu Electrician will be responsible for providing electrical mine support and troubleshooting at Peabody's North Antelope Rochelle Mine (NARM).
Key Job Responsibilities
Troubleshooting Expectations
Thorough knowledge of resistively grounded electrical systems.
Thorough knowledge of electrical protective devices and their use as well as how to configure such devices.
Ability to wire delta-wye and wye-delta transformer connections.
Ability to perform electric motor troubleshooting diagnostics.
Ability to understand PLC systems.

- How to use the PLC for troubleshooting
Ability to change high voltage power cables.
Ability to troubleshoot controls and power systems.
- On shovels
- On draglines
- In all plant areas
Understanding of analog, I/O used in plant control systems.
Ability to splice low voltage cables.
Knowledge in the use of various mine electrical test equipment.
- Meggers
- Cable Fault Locators
- SCR Testers
Other Responsibilities
Use of broad conceptual judgment, initiative and ingenuity to work independently toward ultimate objectives on very involved and complex projects, to devise methods and procedures to meet unusual conditions and to make original contributions to solution of complex problems.
Moderate physical demand, continuously lifting or moving light weight to moderate weight materials and working in difficult work positions.
Assist customers and/or colleagues in troubleshooting and repairs on mining equipment.
Flexibility with travel based on needs and overall company objectives.
Assist in training fellow Electricians.
Any other duties as appropriate and required.
Maintain a billable rate according to department and company objectives.

- Constantly looking for ways to improve and maintain a safe working environment by completing FLRA’s, Near Miss Cards and Safety Observations.
Qualifications/Requirements
EDUCATION: Equivalent to complete accredited apprenticeship in a recognized trade, craft or occupation; or equivalent to a 1 year technical college education.
EXPERIENCE: Over 5 years with motor controls, circuit installations, read and understand schematics, PLC’s, Digital Drives and general troubleshooting.
REQUIREMENTS: Current MSHA, ability to earn MSHA Electrical “Low, Medium & High Certification”, valid drivers license, and able to pass pre-employment drug screen and physical job requirements.

The Komatsu North America Mining Distribution and Service group is a critical part of our Komatsu global organization. We, sell, install, service, provide parts and rebuild equipment, as well as provide digital solutions for our customers.
