The Opportunity

We are seeking a Law Clerk to join our Firm. This position will be based in our Wilmington office (hybrid). The Law Clerk will be responsible for a ssisting to maintain the Firm's litigation calendar using market based calendar software. Processes filings in various state, federal, and chancery courts and assists with various administrative projects and tasks providing information and assistance to attorneys, paralegals and professional staff. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Enters litigation related deadlines in the Firm's calendar software.

  • Searches federal and state court dockets with emphasis on Court of Chancery.

  • Maintains organizational charts and assists with monitoring and tracking data which is helpful to the department.

  • Handles general administrative tasks to assist with workflow.

  • Has working knowledge of how to process conventional and electronic filings in federal and state courts with emphasis on Court of Chancery.

  • Processes litigation case files using file management system.

  • Assists with monitoring for distributing new complaints for potential new business.

  • Communicates with various courts and vendors.

  • Collaborates with Managing Law Clerks Specialist to ensure comprehensive up-to-date content is placed in the Managing Law Clerks Database.

  • Provides accurate and timely responses to requests into the department to ensure high-quality work product that aligns with Firm values.

  • Stays current on understanding Firm policies, industry trends, and professional development opportunities.

  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective work relationships with others.

  • Manages Firm resources responsibly.

  • Complies with and understands Firm operation, policies and procedures.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Knowledge of relevant Firm computer software programs (Outlook, Excel PowerPoint) as well as calendar software

  • Strong working knowledge of the processes and procedures of federal and Delaware state courts with strong emphasis on the Delaware Court of Chancery

  • Thorough knowledge of federal and state court filing procedures, particularly those in Court of Chancery

  • Litigation experience in Delaware courts

  • Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills to facilitate high-quality work product

  • Strong research skills and proficiency in using various research tools including the Internet, Westlaw, LexisNexis, PACER and other court-related websites

  • Manage Firm resources responsibly

  • Attention to detail is essential - especially when calculating jurisdictional deadlines

  • Ability to manage cases through vendor PacerPro, Public Access to Court Electronic Records (PACER), File&ServeXpress and various calendar software the department utilizes

  • Capable of managing multiple projects, tasks and remain organized while prioritizing work

  • Capable of working independently on projects and tasks if necessary as well as effectively within a team

  • Capacity to handle sensitive material and maintain confidentiality

  • Ability to communicate effectively

  • Ability to deal courteously/effectively with others

  • Ability to organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines

  • Ability to pay attention to detail and proofread work for errors

  • Ability to work well in a demanding and fast-paced environment

  • Flexibility to adjust hours and work the hours necessary to meet operating and business needs

  • Flexibility and willingness to perform a wide range of tasks


Experience/Education

  • Associates Degree

  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience
