School: Faculty of Arts and Sciences Department/Area: Stem Cell and Regenerative Biology Department Position Description: The Segel Lab invites applications for a Research Associate position. The lab is working to explore the evolution of mammalian lifespan with the goal of better understanding the underpinnings of human aging. There is a strong emphasis on the aging of the brain. The Segel lab is new (starting Summer 2024)! We are looking for a Research Associatesomeone with at least 5 years of postdoctoral experience who want to be part of a new research group; who want to help establish a fun, inclusive, and creative academic research environment alongside graduate student trainees; and who want to help shape the research trajectory of a newly established lab in an exciting and growing field. Our work will be at the intersection of stem cell, developmental, and evolutionary biology, so we are particularly interested in candidates with a strong research background in: -Embryonic stem cells and/or the generation of iPS cells. -Embryo manipulation/ in vitro fertilization techniques. -Developmental neuroscience. -The biology of aging. -Preparation and analysis of next generation sequencing studies. -Biochemistry and/or cell biology Responsibilities: Participate in mentoring activities for undergraduate and graduate students. Conduct research in in vitro or animal models of aging. Draft, publish, and present research findings in high-quality scientific journals and conferences. Engage regularly with the PI to help shape the scope of research. Regularly meet with and provide feedback for colleagues and lab members. Contribute to the preparation of research proposals. Assist with lab recruitment and outreach activities. Basic Qualifications: 1. A Ph.D. in any relevant field 2. Demonstrated record of research achievement. 3. Excellent written and oral communication skills. 4. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 5. Excellent organizational skills. 6.
