Position Title: Adjunct Faculty, Sports Radio Reporting School/Division: School of Communication Full Time/Part Time: Part-Time Description: The Lawrence Herbert School of Communication at Hofstra University is pleased to invite applications for an Adjunct Instructor/Assistant Professor in the area of Podcasting and Audio Storytelling in the Department of Radio, Television, Film ( RTVF ) to teach courses on Sports Radio Reporting and Production. Candidate should be able to teach the fundamental practices of radio reporting and non-fiction storytelling, and introduce students to the basic skills of reporting and producing radio news, emphasizing the wide range of sports reporting, which includes writing sports radio headlines, radio news packages, and other audio features of various lengths, including live spot reports and breaking sports news stories. While the course is housed in the RTVF department, it is cross-listed with the Journalism program and is a popular elective for students enrolled in our BS program in Sports Media. The preferred candidate will: have professional experience in sports media production and reporting, preferably on radio and audio-only platforms such as podcasts and streaming services. be comfortable teaching the fundamentals of sports radio reporting for a variety of platforms. have a strong command of the digital audio production software used for the class (both Pro Tools Studio and Adobe Audition). Qualifications: Have an advanced degree in a related discipline or equivalent professional experience. Available to begin teaching in the fall 2024 semester. Preferred Qualifications: Have demonstrated a commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusive in an educational environment. Have some teaching and/or production workshop experience.
