Michael Baker International is seeking an enthusiastic and passionate Telecom Designer to join our team. In this role, your responsibilities include design and documentation for a broad range of project types. Our current focus includes expanding our market share in Federal and Department of Defense projects, while also diversifying into Healthcare, Data Centers, Higher Education, and Industrial sectors. You will work in multi-disciplinary, collaborative project design teams with architects, interior designers, civil engineers, and building systems engineers. You must demonstrate organizational skills, an ability to work in a team environment, and an advanced understanding of construction documents and constructability.

This position can sit in Moon Township, Pa., or Rocky Hill CT.

Can you walk me through a typical day of a Senior Telecom Designer?

  • Lead in the design of Low-voltage and telecommunications systems, equipment, components, and products for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes
  • Lead engineers and designers with the directing of activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements
  • Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks including; creating plans, updating BIM and AutoCAD detail libraries and design tools, and coordinating drawing production in line with project requirements and in conjunction with other discipline
  • Provides scopes of work, budgetary estimates, and design coordination with multiple engineering disciplines, and project architectural team
  • Designs included Structured Cabling, Access Control, CCTV, voice and data systems, audiovisual systems, communications room layout, and building infrastructure for low voltage systems
  • Design experience covers several verticals including, but not limited to, higher education, healthcare, government, and commercial
  • Develops construction specifications and construction drawings; field inspections, and witnesses field acceptance testing; facilitates contractor coordination; and reviews contract close-out documentation

Could I be the Senior Telecom Designer that Michael Baker International is looking for?

  • Associate's Degree in related field preferred
  • 10-20 years of related experience which should include experience with the following systems: Data/Voice structured cabling systems, audiovisual presentation, and conferencing systems, wireless systems including Wi-Fi, public safety distribution systems, access control, intrusion detection, and video surveillance systems
  • RCDD or CTS-D Certification is required. If certification has not been obtained, be willing to put in time and work to obtain certification within 6 months
  • Experience with Autodesk Revit/AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office (Word/Excel). Knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM) preferred
  • Effective visual/verbal communication skills are essential. Candidates should possess a proficient understanding of inter-relationships among design/engineering disciplines, clients, and constructors
  • Solid organizational and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage and prioritize project assignments to meet competing deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and within a team setting to support proposal-related projects and assignments

COMPENSATION
The National salary range for this position is $100,942- $157,643. The actual salary offered will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate, and relative to salary ranges in the offering office.
