About the Job
This position is in a laboratory that studies the signaling mechanisms and biomarkers driving cancer treatment resistance. We work with a variety of methods (proteomics, phosphoproteomics, RNA sequencing, liquid biopsy handling, etc.) to measure and identify novel therapeutic targets for treating prostate cancer. We currently have NIH, DoD, and industry funding to examine these mechanisms.

Job Responsibilities:

80% Research work:
Design, plan, oversee, implement, and evaluate complex, multi-faceted research projects based on in-depth subject matter knowledge in consultation with the PI, collaborators, and other lab members. Formulate and implement short-and long-range research goals. Develop and optimize research protocols. Conduct and train others in proteomics/phosphoproteomics and data analyses among other pertinent molecular biology techniques. Maintain detailed records of all experiments and procedures in lab notebooks as well as in online databases and project management tools. Analyze collected data, review relevant scientific literature, and summarize findings periodically in meetings and in writing, including manuscripts for publication.

10% General laboratory management: Work with the PI and staff to ensure compliance with university and federal safety regulations. Investigate and evaluate vendors and products, supervise ordering and maintenance of inventory, and recordkeeping. Maintain and adapt laboratory equipment, keep records of protocols and standard operating procedures. Supervise and train other laboratory members, including staff and students.

10% Serve as an expert resource to lab members. Instruct, direct, and supervise undergraduate students assigned, and interact with collaborators. Coordinate with collaborators to ensure projects move smoothly and resources are shared. Provide collaborators with regular updates on research goals and progress. Prepare manuscripts and figures for publication and help with writing grants.

Required Qualifications (must be mentioned on application/resume):
PhD in pharmacology, molecular biology, cancer biology or a related field and 1 or more years of research training
Research experience with proteomics and phosphoproteomics techniques, general molecular biology techniques including tissue culture
Strong organizational skills, proactive and detail orientated
Strong written and oral communication skills
Lab management experience

Preferred Qualifications:
3 or more years of research training
Demonstrated publication record with multiple first author papers in reputable journals
Research experience in cancer biology and related techniques
Experience with large omic data analysis
Ability to interact constructively with faculty and staff
Experience training others in laboratory protocols and research method
