Auburn University Libraries is seeking applicants for the position of Student Assistant to assist faculty and staff with daily, routine library operations.

Essential Functions
- Retrieving books and journals from the library stacks
- Checking books out to schools in Voyager (Library's management system)
- Updating ILL and Document Delivery requests in ILLiad (Transaction system)
- Scanning journal articles for Interlibrary Loan & AubieExpress (AU users)
- Processing articles found in Auburn Libraries' electronic databases
- Packaging books to be shipped out through UPS and Federal Express
- Opening packages with borrowed books coming to Auburn and loaned books returning to Auburn
- Checking books into Voyager and completing the ILL record in ILLiad
- Using the microfilm/microfiche reader/scanners to create pdf scans for electronic delivery
- Answering phones in a business-like manner
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently enrolled student at Auburn University

- Be willing to work as a team member while interacting with faculty, staff, and students
- Possess strong interpersonal and communications skills
- Exhibit dependability, multi-tasking, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment are imperative in this position
- Embrace the commitment to an inclusive and diverse campus environment is essential to this student assistant position Job frequently requires standing, walking, reaching, balancing, hearing, handling objects with hands, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds
Preferred Qualifications
Pay Rate
$9.00/hour
Work Hours
Typically, Monday-Friday 7:30am to 12:00pm; Up to 20 hours per week depending on availability and departmental needs.

Welcome to Auburn University!
Auburn University was established in 1856 as the East Alabama Male College, 20 years after the city of Auburn's founding. In 1872, under the Morrill Act, the school became the first land-grant college in the South and was renamed the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama. In 1899 the name again was changed, to the Alabama Polytechnic Institute. Finally, in 1960 the name of the school was changed to Auburn University, a title more in keeping with its location, and expressing the varied academic programs and larger curriculum of a major university.
Today, Auburn is one of the few universities to carry the torch as a land, sea and space grant university. Our fall 2014 semester enrollment was 25,912. Our students can choose from more than 140 degree options in 13 schools and colleges at the undergraduate, graduate and professional levels.
Auburn University has developed into one of the largest universities in the South, remaining in the educational forefront with its traditional blend of arts and applied science, and changing with the needs of today while living with a respect for the traditions and spirit that are Auburn.
